Lactose free protein sources (not meat or fish)

I’ve recently found out the reason for the bloating and feeling unwell (nauseated, even dizzy sometimes) at the gym. Took some blood samples and the conclusion is that I have lactose intolerance.
I used to have a scoop or two of whey protein, ate icelandic yoghurt (very rich in protein and super delicious, might I add), protein bars some times as protein sources, because I only eat dinner at home (the only meal I can control the amount of protein I eat). I eat lunch at work and unfortunately it’s hard to predict. But of course those were the reasons for me being unwell, and I need to find alternatives.

I’m determined to follow my macros as much as possible, but since I don’t live in a place with that many options regarding lactose free food choices in regular supermarkets, I was wondering if anyone could recommend some supplements, shakes, protein bars, that could help me.
I found vegan protein, but to be honest I really hate the taste of vegan yoghurt, so I’m really reluctant in trying out the protein powder… any good recommendations? Either just lactose free or vegan.

Thanks in advance!

There is very little for you to choose from but have you tried Sunflower Seed Butter, Lentils , Tofu.

I'm also lactose intolerant and allergic to most all fish; thank goodness I understand not to try to eat vegan. Beans leave me nauseated but if you enjoy certain beans, some rice& bean combos create a complete protein.

    Good Luck.

This works nicely ( any brand will do) so that you can continue to enjoy your favorite yoghurt.

Try the protein powder! You might like it? Also you can add loads of fruit or something to mask the taste. Is soy youghurt no good? They usually ok

I will try to find this. At least for this early stage of adapting to a new diet and restrictions

Where I live I can only find the brand Alpro. The milk from this brand is good, but the soy yoghurt is terrible, not even with fruit. Also, if I load it with fruits I'll also be loading with carbs...

I'll try the vegan protein powder, maybe buy a small package at first...

I am also lactose intolerant, but where I live I can get Arla Lactofree products, such as milk, cheese and yoghurt, I can't imagine not being able to have the milk! I have recently tried soya yoghurt though which is actually really nice, the ones I get, you wouldn't know they were made from soya. I really struggle to get my protein levels up too. I pick at almonds and sunflowers seeds, and sometimes mix chia seeds into scrambled egg which helps a bit.

Whey protein isolate contains almost no lactose. Give it a try.
