Hey,

I'm looking for healthy ideas to go with meats:

I had chicken and vegetable rice last night and steak with sweet potato fries but that's as exciting as I get...

Im wanting filling ideas that are tasty and no more than 399kcal for the sides (so like broccoli and carrots with sweede mash or couscous and roast veg)

Any ideas?

Roasted mini potatoes are one of my fave. 1 tbsp of ev olive oil, some Italian spices, sea salt, and garlic. Wash potatoes and cut in quarters. Toss in oil/spices, and pour onto foil lined cookie sheet and bake for 40 minutes at 425 F. I usually stir them up halfway through.

Using the recipe builder, a serving usually comes to about 150-180 calories depending on how much room I have on my plate.

Budgetbytes.com has some good suggestions. I like smoky sweet potatoes, roasted root vegetables, and curried carrots. Her ratatouille recipe is fabulous and pretty low cal, but it does take a lot of prep work.

My all time favorite side is just plain green beans though, I could eat them every day.

    Salad
    Broccoli
    Cauliflower
    Broccoli and cauliflower
    Mashed cauliflower
    Roasted veggies
    Asparagus
    Brussels sprouts
    Grilled zucchini
Fruit salad (lots of sugar though)
    Tomato cucumber salad
    Grilled onions
    Raw veggies
    Canned green beans
    Canned spinach
    Spinach salad
    Vegetable soup
Cole slaw (homemade is best; I use Walden Farms for the dressing)
    Cottage cheese with tomatoes
    Cottage cheese with pineapple
Grilled peppers (I like fajita style)
Zoodles (can be a side or a main dish)
