I am a martial artist and compete regularly at competitions all over the UK and more recently abroad too. In karate, just like boxing, you are categorised based on your gender, age and weight. Currently I compete in a 65kg+ category, however I would like to go down to the 57kg+. So any advice on training or food that will help me to achieve this would be very much appreciated - although I am a VERY fussy eater, and when I say this I'm talking I don't like meat, or many dairy products:')

All you really need to lose weight is to eat les than you burn. Plug your stats into the app and eat to the goal it gives you. What you eat is entirely up to you.1

Drop Gluten. I lost 15 lbs in 3 months. I don't eat any wheat EVER now as it makes me sick. Look for lean proteins and dairy free. I love pumpkin seeds right now, but drown them with water.0

This is not necessary. If you only want to make weight, consider a very low carb diet a couple of weeks before your competition, which may help you drop 2-4 kg of water weight in a relatively short time. If you want to lose actual weight, all you need to do is eat what the app is telling you to eat. Keep in mind that because you don't have much to lose, when you pick 1 kg a week and the app gives you 1200 calories, you won't actually lose 1 kg a week. That's due to the fact that MFP does not go lower than 1200 because it's not safe in most cases. Expect to lose anywhere from 1/4 to 3/4 kg a week depending on your activity level.0
