Has anyone taken these and have they worked?

There are several prescriptions out there. If you're looking for a particular one you might look at the groups section and search there.
It's important to note that there is no weight loss prescription out there that does not require a calorie deficit to work. None of those prescriptions really burn fat or make calories disappear on their own. They help certain people with certain struggles and they are not for everyone. There are side effects and you can't know if you'll get them or not.
This is a conversation best had with your regular doctor--one that knows your medical history well and has an interest in your overall health.

I have, she referred me and I have an appointment with "the weight loss specialist". I had gastric bypass in 2005, have kept off 80lbs but never made goal. Surgeon suggested a revision but primary wants to exhaust all other options.
I was curious if anyone has tried them.0 -
I'm on phentermine! And I fuggen love it, it has helped in so many ways !4

They only worked if I ate at a calorie deficit.
They never worked when I ate too many calories.
It did not take me long to figure out that losing weight is about calories in/calories out and that diet pills are 100% unnecessary for weight loss.

I just started back on Phentermine for the 3rd time. I did two months my 1st time, 1 month the 2nd time (then got pregnant, so be careful ladies) and started my 3rd time yesterday along with a super b lipo shot. I love them because it helps curb your appetite in such a major way that helps you decrease your daily calorie intake. So it is important to keep your nutrients coming in, high and lean proteins and veggies, low to no carbs. The pills make you thirst so it increases your water intake to where it needs to be. I normally would drink 1-2 bottles of water a day. Well today I drank 6!!!! Adding exercise is very beneficial to the weight loss process. You can't take the pill and/or shot and keep doing the same things and expect a change. The pill helps give you the energy to work out, curb your appetite so you eat less and forces you to drink tons of water. Of course talk to your health care provider to see if it's best for you based on your health history. I go to a weightloss wellness clinic as well, where the doctor gave me the shot himself and also wrote the prescription for me to take to my pharmacy. It's lovely stuff. I plan to be on it longer this go round so I can get into a good flow and routine of eating less and exercise so as I slowly come off the pills (as recommended) I will be comfortable doing what I have already been doing for the months prior. I don't remember how much I lost the 1st time but the 2nd time I lost 12lbs in one month and I barely exercised. I have a friend whow works at the clinic (that's how I got put on to that center) and she lost 35lbs in only 3 months. So that's pretty much what I lost my 1st month. So excited for my journey.0 -
Oh...my calorie intake for today was only like 800, when the limit is 1300 for how much weight I want to lose. As of yesterday I was 226.2, my goal is 185, so about 40lbs.-2

They all work to some degree.
The issue is which one of them has side effects that your doc and you are o.k. with.0 -

Seriously?! You're HAPPY that you're eating a dangerously low amount of calories?
Harsh, but yeah, where does 800 calories fit into getting ready to come off the meds and continuing a good routine? Even bariatric surgery patients are only that low for a little while. It doesn't sound like this is really helping you to learn to eat appropriately.
That, OP, is something to watch out for with weight loss drugs and weight loss clinics.1 -
Thank you all. Lol I did the Google thing. I have an appointment at the weight loss center, I've found 2 possibilities that have less risks with my other meds. I have keeping track on several nutrition apps, fitbit, stuff like that. So when I go I can print out the info so they have an idea where I've been doing0

I took a lowish dose of phentermine for one month. It was great at helping me redo my portion sizes and get through that tough beginning phase of lifestyle change. After that I quickly tapered off, as the side effects were unpleasant.2

I am not going to demonize this type of approach. However, in my experience over 30 years, I have never worked with anyone who achieved long-term success using a pharmaceutical approach. Again, I'm not saying it can't happen--just saying that over many years and hundreds of clients--many of whom have tried these drugs-- I've never worked with anyone who maintained the initial weight loss, which suggests to me that it is a very low success rate.2

Why are you eating such low calories? At this juncture, you can eat more than 1300 and lose a good amount of weight per week.1 -
