Why is there never a shortage of people who will positively reinforce poor decisions?

in a neighborhood pond there was a dorsal fin i swear to jesus it was a dorsal fin but i can't tell anyone irl because they'll think i believe in river monsters or i'm hallucinating again
shed light pls is there texas water critter thats mistaken for a shark?
I'd assume that was a grass carp that was stocked to control vegetation in the pond. Here's a representative photo (I'm not on the up and up with carp identification, but it would look similar if not this exact species)

They are probably happy that someone else is validating their own poor decisions. So basically I am saying they are making the same poor choices and are giving the person positive enforcement for being just as stupid as them,2

There are sometimes varied opinions when it comes to eating healthy and to fitness and exercise (Paleo versus Vegan, free weights versus strength training equipment) and well meaning or well intention people see things differently or disagree.
I recently responded to someone's posted questions regarding strength training and commented on a routine that I use at the gym. A third person commented back that I was basically uninformed (read "idiot") because my gym routine varied from their gym routine and their gym routine was obviously better than mine. They thought I was positively reinforcing the wrong message in my post, but I was only commenting on what has worked well for me.1 -

Just for the record Bull Sharks can live in fresh water and have been found in the Mississippi river as far north as Illinois. You do not have one in your pond that is for certain but any river system that connects to the ocean has the potential to have bull sharks.. and they are very agressive man eaters.0 -

We're not our brothers keeper . I don't feel it's my place to criticize what other people are eating or their exercise habits they are adults and if they want that donut who am I to tell them that it's bad for them . We all know what we should be eating and making someone feel bad for logging a donut or chocolate bar might make them think twice about logging their food . I'd hate to be the reason someone stopped coming on here .2

yeah, they're not the most efficient at swimming through dams to get into a pond in the DFW area during a flood though...
