Breastfeeding and additional calories?

How many additional calories should I take in given that I am breastfeeding an eight week old? Is there a setting that I can find in MFP to take that into account so it doesn't look like I'm going over my goals each day?

    You can add breastfeeding under foods for a negative or under excercise. I personally just manually changed my food goal to accommodate nursing calories. Good luck :)

    500 if baby is only breastfeeding
    250 when baby is on other food as well

    That is true. but I want to mention my son is almost 9 months im feeding him solids 3 times a day and im still losing on 1650 so see what numbers work right for you as an individual.

    It was 300 the last time I was breastfeeding, about five years ago. At that time I just put it in as 300 calories of exercise.

    I ate my breastfeeding calories after my first was born and didn't lose any weight. So this time I'm not adjusting for the fact that I'm breastfeeding and I'm losing. Up to you though obviously :)

    I just manually adjusted the calorie intake so that I take in no more than 1500 calories a day (kellymom.com suggests taking in no less than that while breastfeeding) it's a great website and has info on losing weight while breastfeeding!

    I add breastfeeding as an exercise for 500 Cals. I'm eating between 2000-2300 Cals a day and losing about 1 lb a week so far. I'm 5'3 and started at 177lbs, currently 171.

    Edit: my baby is 4 months and exclusively breastfed. I'll reduce the calories when she starts on solids.
