Hi,
I'm new to this site and would really love some friends to help me stay motivated. I turned 49 this year and am determined to be in the best shape of my life by 50. I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. Of course I've had good years and bad years but as I get older I realize more than ever...to enjoy the golden years I need to stick to a program.

    Hi Carmen,
I'm new to the program too... 51 and working to lose some weight as well. An old buddy of mine said, "It's not the amount of weight you lift, it's how often you go to the gym." Well, I have applied that logic to walking and bike riding recently. The hills and mountains in Lewiston, ID provide me with great motivation! For me, it's about finding some hill that I dread, and getting my butt on top! Love to head down to the Snake / Clearwater Rivers and ride along the dikes... It's cooler down there. Hopefully, you have places like these where you are... you get to train your mind as well as your body! :)

    Hi Jim,
I read your profile, I too retired from the military and gained weight. It's a hard thing to adjust your eating habits after you leave. Yes, I have some beautiful places to hike, walk or run in my area. I live near a national park in Nova Scotia, Canada.

I use to run frequently but stopped for a couple of years, now I'm trying to train my dog to run with me...for a little extra motivation.
