Trying but always over carbs!!

I have been trying really hard to stay in calorie and carb range but I always seem to go over in my carbs. For example, a special K fruit crisp is 20 g of carbs, 20? They are only 90 cals but so many carbs. What good foods (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) and snacks do you have that are low in carbs as well as calories?

    Think protein.

A mini babybel, hard boiled egg, handful of nuts, yoghurt, roasted peas or beans, crab sticks, celery with humous or peanut butter....

Don't try to do everything at a time. Get your calories under control, and then focus on individual type of calories.

Get ideas.......but I tend to worry about fat with pb and nuts. I hate seeing "red" in my profile. I am going to get some babybel, eggs, and maybe try some hummas.

Going over in good fats is okay. The good fats keep you full. If you're eating twinkie fat and going over, that's not good!

I'm eating low carb and high protein and it's amazing. I eat a lot of tuna, chicken, greek yogurt, and vegetables. I don't ever feel hungry! Trader Joe's has really good wraps that are low carb.

An egg substitute like Egg Beaters, or Egg Whites scrambled is almost pure protein. make it into an omelette, add a wedge or two of Laughing Cow cheese, and some veggies.

When you think about carbs, think about simple vs. complex varieties. If most of your carbs are from fruit, veggies, and whole grains, then you are OK. I'm usually over my carbs, too, but that's because I make sure I eat lots of fruit. When you are going to have pasta, choose whole grain pasta instead of regular. Same with bread. Also, try not to go overboard with grains in general, as they are more difficult for your body to process.

Oh, this is something I have discovered recently, and I love it...
Carbquik. It's like Bisquik, but it has only 2 net carbs per serving and huge fiber. You can make pankcakes or waffles or biscuits with it.
    http://www.carbquik.com

and here are a lot of recipes that can use this stuff:

Beware, though, that a lot of these recipes are not low calorie, only low carb, though, I've found that with most of them I can modify them to reduce most of the fats out as well, and that brings the calories down.

There is only one place online to buy this stuff at, but that site also has lots of other low carb and low calorie stuff to look at as well.

and here is the low carb flour by itself:

I always go over the carb limit recommendation. I took that option out, because I know that 90% of the carbs that I consume are very healthy, so I shouldn't have to limit them. :-)

Unless you follow a low carb diet, have a doctor recommendation of lowering your carbs, or tend to choose simple/less healthy carbs, my advice is to not worry about them.

Whole grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits are all very healthy carbs.

    Good luck!
