How to qualify work..

If anyone knows what Payless ShoeSource is, that's where I work. It's a shoe store. I'm on my feet 8 hours, walking around, helping customers. Today, I did shipment. Which is busting the boxes open, tagging, and running the shoes. Climbing a ladder, moving boxes. I realize it's not hard work but it breaks a sweat. How would you qualify that for exercise? I put in 'standing', and got, "fishing from a riverbank, standing".. so I put in that I did that for 6 hours (considering I worked 9, and probably relaxed for 3 total hours considering my hour break and down time). But for that, it says I burned over 2000 calories and I don't think that would be right. Any help???

    god job! any movement requires calories!
    try squats at work during breaks, 3 sets of 30 hands on hips shallow drop
    keep it up!

    I would do moving/carrying boxes for while you were doing stock and then walking 2.0mph for the remaining time. See what you get for that. These activities would be closer to what you actually did than fishing would be.

    ahh Payless. :) I use to manage a payless shoesource a few years ago for a long time. I totally know what your talking about. Running shipment and running around helping customers is definitely calorie burning but I personally wouldn't really add it in as exercise. Just change your settings to active if it isnt already. That should make up the difference for what your body normally burns on a daily basis just living. If you want to add it try walking slow and see what that does for calories burnt

    I add work in too my lightly active lifestyle when u set up your calories. I work as a nurse 12 hr shifts but don't count extra calories fr it because i tend to over eat those days anyway. If I don't bonus for me. No need to count it unless it's unusual for u or very intermittent. U will just lose faster unless you wanna **** it so u can eat some of the calories just make sure u still lose if u do.

    i work in a kitchen (lots of walking and moving) so I just set my profile to lightly active rather than logging each days work.

    I enjoyed it, yes. I loved being a store manager and the responsibility that came with that. I am kind of OCD so constantly cleaning up after customers bugged me a little. But my store had to be perfect. topstock, racks, everything. :)
  • Hi, I work in a retail clothing store, I'm not always walking around, but I'm NEVER sitting or not moving. I am set to sedentary lifestyle as I only work part time. On days that I work 8 hours, I add in 2 hours of excercise under walking slow pace, I think its 2miles/hour or something like that. I only do that for 8 hour shifts, and I only add in 2 hours (unless I know I am doing something more physical than usual that shift). Hope that helps!

    Well considering it asks what you're lifestyle is like I would have thought that you had anwered appropriately and it took that into account when calculating how many calories you're aiming for...So you wouldn't put it in. I'm a houewife and I spend most of my days running up and down stairs, running errands and carrying things, none of that goes into my excercise because it' not, it's my lifestyle...
