Losing Weight

I have just finished my fourth week of watching what I eat and exercising. I have lost 6 lbs. I exercise on my GAZELLE at least 3X a week for 30 minutes. I also do a lot of yard work. We have about 1/2 acre that I mow, weed, trim branches and bushes, rake, etc. When I took my measurements this morning, I had gained 1/2" in some areas, but mostly stayed the same. My thinking is that I am toning my muscles and that is why I am not losing as fast as I would like to. My MD has me on a Gluten free diet with no foods that have High Fructose Sugar in them, due to health issues. Sometimes it is very hard to know what to eat. Also, I am retired, so I think my age might have something to do with my slow weight lose. Does anyone have any advise on how I can lose weight faster? Should I cut back on my exercise and yard work? Should I be exercising more? I am just frustrated because I feel like I should be losing more weight that I have.

You've lost six pounds!!! That's 1.5 pounds per week. Keep doing what you're doing, cuz it's awesome!!!5

1.5 pounds a week is great.
The increase is probably bloat from the exercise.
You didn't gain the weight over night so you're not going to lose it over night. I'd keep doing what you're doing.
Congrats.2 -
SLOW?!! You lost 6 lbs in 4 weeks!!! That's not slow. Makes me sad when people have such unrealistic expectations that they are disappointed when they are getting fabulous results.3

The only thing you need to change are your expectations. You're doing wonderfully.3

That's spot on - much more than 1.5 - 2lbs a week arguably isn't particularly healthy. Good effort!!0

Thank you for your comments on my weight loss. I guess I am being too hard on myself, but I have always been that way. I plan to continue my efforts on losing weight. Several reasons: 1) I will be performing our Son's wedding ceremony in October, as I am a Notary. 2) Next year will be my 50th. high school reunion! Yes, I am OLD! But the main reason to lose this weight is to feel better physically and to look good for my husband of 45 years. So I have goals to keep me going. I just get frustrated sometimes. Y'all have lifted my spirits today and I thank you very much!1
