I seem to keep going over these. The protein above all. I'm not sure what I can do to fix this. Should I stop eating a lot of protein for dinner? As far as cholesterol, the only times I go over that is when I eat an egg in the morning. But I also eat things throughout the day that have cholesterol as well. Should I only eat egg whites? Any advice anyone can give me would be great. I'm at a lost what to do.

Make your food diary visible to public.

Cholesterol from your food isn't a problem. Don't sweat it. What's your idea of 'over' for protein? How far over that are you?

It's impossible to advise you about protein intake without knowing more information, such as what your macros are set at currently (and why you have set them that way), what your current height/weight/calorie level/activity level are, and whether or not you are lifting weights. That being said, one large egg has only 6g of protein. Exceeding your protein intake by 6g is totally insignificant. With regard to cholesterol, unless you have risk factors for heart disease (as diagnosed by a physician), limiting dietary cholesterol is not necessary. Recommendations regarding cholesterol intake have changed a LOT recently (http://health.gov/dietaryguidelines/2015-scientific-report/).

I second the others, don't worry about going over. And another thing--unless you are inputting all your macro information yourself, MFP is just not accurate. Some entries are spot-on, others are completely off.

One day I was over 30g because I didn't realize how much chicken I was actually cnsuming. But since ive fixed that I'm usually only over at most 10g.

What is your protein setting? The default is pretty low. 30g over minimum is not even close to too much protein

I actually do have a family history of heart disease. And my doctor warned me that my cholesterol level was high. But that was before I started this healthy lifestyle. So maybe I should get checked again.

From everything I've read, and I read a LOT of science and nutrition, cholesterol does not raise your cholesterol. Too many calories raise your cholesterol. Fatty foods do not raise your cholesterol. Too many calories do. Trans fats can. (And bad genes, etc.) And the guidelines for cholesterol have changed a LOT, as one poster linked. These are explained in detail on the American Heart Assoc. website.

Dietary fat (saturated and trans fat) can contribute to your cholesterol levels is a bad way. Saturated fat can raise your LDL and trans fat can raise your LDL and lower your HDL. They can also increase your triglycerides and contribute to a higher overall cholesterol level.

From what I understand, dietary cholesterol does not contribute to high cholesterol in the same way for most people.

I actually checked my macros (finally) didn't know I could change them. Well they are definitely in my opinion set way too high, But unfortunately since it has to be 100% I couldn't really tweak it.

I believe it's set to 79. But I've been reading that 46 is the norm for someone like myself who isn't very active.

I would advise eating AT LEAST 79 g of protein to help you avoid muscle loss as you lose weight ... http://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/how-much-protein-do-you-need-every-day-201506188096
