I've lost 93 pounds, and though the scale is no longer budging (darn it!!), my body is still changing and getting tighter. I have a small amount of excess skin on my lower belly and upper arms, but not much at all. I doubt anyone would notice it but me! And I'm hoping over time it will tighten up.

Four years ago I went from 265lbs to 142lbs and had very little excess skin. Some on my inner thighs, a little under my arms, and then on my stomach. I was never going to be able to wear a string bikini but I looked GOOD in clothes everyday and felt AMAZING! Even thin people wear spanx and if they say they don't...they're lying ;-)

I think sometimes people have excess skin because they haven't gotten to their goal yet and they give up :-/

Recently, I weighed 282 and I'm now down to 266. I have a long way to go to get to my goal but if I did it once, I can do it again. Don't let excess skin or the fear of the unknown, stop you from reaching your goals!!

I lost just about 75 pounds and my stomach is terrible, I don't know either how to tighten all the skin. My mother had weight loss surgery so that covered her surgery for removal for the skin.

ive lost about 60 possibly 70 and have no excess skin - in fact it resolved most of my stretch marks

I think it really really varies based on the persons age/genetics/routine (Strength training vs cardio)

I've lost almost 140 lbs and yes I have excess skin, but slowly it's getting better. I still have about 35-40 lbs to lose. I think it varies from person to person with many different factors that goes along with it.

I have lost 160 pounds and have about 10 pounds of excess skin which in all honesty for the amount I have lost I dont think is to bad - I still wanna lose another 40-55 pounds :)

I have lost almost 50lbs and not a lot of excess skin...I know it's not over 100 but..

I have a friend who lost 20 and has a lot of excess skin...

My sister no excess skin or stretch marks from pregnancy...

I think that there are lots of factors that go into this.

    1. how fast you lose the weight - too fast and you have the skin issue
    2. How you lose the weight (diet alone or lifting weights and diet or cardio and diet) - diet alone you lose muscle too, with cardio you lose muscle too...but with weights...you maintain most of it. which I think could prevent lose skin
    3. Genetics

I worried about this as well as I'd been heavy BMI 44% (& lost & gained & lost & gained etc) for over half my life, so between that and age (>50) my skin was NOT going to snap back anytime soon, IF ever. :noway:

I had batwings from day #1 (trying to do some weight training at this point in my journey) so I knew losing weight was going to give me some excess skin in areas not so readily visible (thankfully). I never wore a bikini so that never a concern.

What I do have at this point (minus 132 lbs since 6/2012) is NOT bad. The bit of excess right now is below the belly button and upper inner thighs. I knew thighs were going to be an issue but pleasantly surprised at this point about the lack of hanging gut skin.

I'm hoping over time things will firm/tone up but considering what I lost I'm very content with how things are at this point, rather have the skin sag than filled up with all the pounds.

It seems like some people (like me) will get excess skin no matter what. I'm losing fairly slowly (nearly 100 lbs in about a year and a half), I drink loads of water, and I'm doing weight training, which are the things I guess I'm supposed to do to prevent excess skin. I'm still fat, but I have quite a bit of excess skin already. I think a lot depends on genetics, really.

^This! I 've only lost 15kgs so far (and have a lot more to go) but I'm already seeing where the loose skin is gonna be  Oh well, guess I might as well start working on letting it not bother me.
P.S. I've been doing strength training since I began and it hasn't seemed to help. Might be because I've been carrying this large amount of weight for over 5 years, so it's too overstretched to shrink back.
