Walmart peanut butter is $3 per 6000 kcal, canned tuna is cheap source of protein, but shouldn't be consumed in mass quantities because of the mercury content.

Olive Oil - 120 calories per tablespoon
    Peanut/Almond Butter
    Whole Fat Milk
    Bulk frozen meats

Note that many of these foods tend to be higher in fat, because 1g fat = 9 calories, while 1g protein or carb = 4 calories.

Dried beans, rice, peanut butter, pasta, ramen. Watch for sales on dairy and eggs. Buy meat in bulk when it goes on sale.

Putting the cheapest, highest calorie foods together in to a meal could be fun. Fat and cream give you the biggest calorie bang for your buck. Beans and peanuts are inexpensive, as is pasta and rice.

    Something like this:

Double up on the called-for oil. Add cream.

Learn to make a really good roux with lard. Make gumbo, etouffee, dirty rice, red beans and rice, and jambalaya. Save your stale bread and old eggs. Make bread pudding. Cajun/Creole cuisine is the crown jewel of American cookery, and yet it has its roots in the food of poor whites, exiled French Acadians, and slaves.

Can't believe food in America is so affordable though! I'm reading these prices with despair. I think a tub of peanut butter at Tesco cost me about £2.50/£3, avocados - £1.80 etc

Without regard to health? I have a running joke that Pizza Hut pizza is the best value in terms of calories per dollar. They just find a way to stuff more fat into every pizza, cheese in the crust and so much oil. One bite can sustain a full grown man for a day, like lembas bread. I love that stuff, especially reheated but dayum it has a lot of energy packed into it.

    In actual numbers:

One personal pan pepperoni lover's pizza is 760 calories.
Meat lover's stuffed crust, three slices, 1,290 calories.
We loved the veggie lover's pan pizza, that's 960 calories in three slices.

Wow. So cheap. I've forgotten what prices back home are like. Here in Korea, you're looking at $5 for one Big Mac and $22 for a (smaller) Domino's Medium Pizza.

Heavy whipping cream.... Add it to foods you cook, use it in coffee, icecream, milk/protein shakes etc., that stuff is packed with calories.
