Controlling eating while away on business

I'm going away on business next week and will be staying in hotels. Typically they have buffet breakfast and a-la-carte supper. Lunch i have to sort out myself.
I normally dont log what I eat when I go away because it becomes too time consuming to try and figure everything out and then it usually goes pear-shaped.
So, any suggestions on how to keep my calorie consumption under control?

Most breakfast buffets are similar. You can log breakfast before you leave for a week ahead of time. I like two fried eggs and 2 strips of bacon when I am away for breakfast.
Eat light lunches perhaps because you know you will be eating dinner as part of a group.

Im away at the moment. I eat in pubs. I request that they hold all the sides- the frys, the bread, the potatoes etc. Or dressings and extras such as dressings, bacon bits, cheese etc. I focus on the meat and veg. I also pack fruit for the conference so i can give the pastries and muffins a miss.
Mini rant- my colleagues refuse to ask for deletions when they order, fully intending to not eat certain items because they dont like them e.g yesterday colleagues left whole servings of peas and veg, 4 hash browns, 2 rounds of toast, a whole serving of frys and other whole servings of stuff untouched. It baffles me that they are okay with the waste but not okay with amending thier order to start with.1 -

And if you overdo it in the evening and want a light breakfast, you will have access to lots of eggs, which are the ultimate filling, low calorie food, for me anyway.1

You really don't have 1 to 3 minutes after a meal to log in what you've just eaten? Relax with your coffee, review what you just ate, find it in the data base and record it. It really is not time consuming. Once you've been logging, your "regulars" become real easy to find. Time shouldn't be the problem.1 -
When I travel for business my breakfast is usually a buffet as well so I eat the eggs, bacon and fruit.
I often will find a grocery store nearby as well to get fruit and yogurt to have at the hotel.
Lunches are often sandwiches at the deli on the first floor and dinners are usually at chains so I can find it there.
I try to stay in goal or at least maintenance but I always log.
The other thing I make sure is that I get some form of exercise in at least once a day...either a walk after work or early morning.1 -
Eat meals that you can identify individual components of, Google some calorie estimates, and pick the one that seems the most accurate. If that's too hard then just eat fast food which has all the calories listed on their website/Google.0
