Hey everyone , I am new to myfitnesspal.I work out 5 days a week and am looking to lose 10-15 pounds.New at how the whole calorie counting works.I am guessing that the number it gave me which is 1200 a day is how many im allowed per day but I am curious I do drink coke and sprite some and I do drink slim fast shakes to help control hunger.I am wondering if the calories thats in drinks is deducted from my daily calorie limit or is that just food intake?I am very curious about that so I don't spend them all in one place , lol thanks

Hey lovely!!! welcome!!! Your cals consumption is for everything that touches your lips!!! So my advice steer clear of empty calories from sugar drinks like coke etc!!!! find a low cal substitute!! Buuuuut preferably cut them all together theres no beneficial gain out of having fizzies!!! try opt for a yummy fruit juice (with low sugar content of course and the fresh kind!!!) or vege juice!! Best of all start drinking lots and lots of water!!! hope this helps!!!! Luck!! :)

Thanks , I been drinking the water with the flavored packs like diet snapple and crystal light , just 5 calories a pack just every now and then a nice cold coke sounds good.I work out a place called curves and lost 3 pound so far the first month I got weighed and measured but the second month didn't lose anything but didn't gain either thank goodness.I heard a myth that snacking at night is hard on you but wasn't sure if there is any truth to it.

    Welcome to MFP!

You'll find advocates for both sides of the argument of eating late at night on here, but there are no significant studies which show that eating at night has any positive or negative effect on your weight loss when you're controlling your calorie intake.

This is a hugely supportive community though, so good luck to you with your weight loss. Feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like.
