Hey everyone. I am the team leader on the 30' something swimsuit challenge and I have been going through the message boards looking at various workouts and challenges. I am working toward a goal of burning 3500 calories a week and I am great on the cardio but wanted a bit more strength training. I ran across a push up challenge that started in March and thought WOW that sounds great. I can do about 10 push ups now. There is a website and phone apps available for the program.

The program is 6 weeks long and you should be up to 100 push ups by the end of the six weeks. I would be tickled to be up to 50 in 6 weeks!! Here is the website:

http://www.hundredpushups.com/index.html

I am going to start tomorrow!! Anyone interested in joining can start. I love adding variety to my workouts and push ups is something I can get in at any time throughout the day. I believe the plan calls for just 30 minutes a week.

I am totally in. I'm great at doing cardio but suck at strength exercises, so count me in!

    Hi tamisue!

I recently started this as well. I did attempt it about a year ago, and while I did steadily improve, I found I had to repeat weeks here and there...so depending on where you are starting from, it may not be a six week program - it might be more...not that there is anything wrong with that! It's a good program, but don't be disappointed if you need to repeat weeks in order to make it to your goal!

Good luck on the challenge - feel free to friend me, as I will be repeating week one this upcoming week (failed on day 3 of week 1 today) - we can encourage each other!
  • I'll join you! My arms will thank me x)

I'm in the swimsuit challenge this month, but I guess adding some strength would help looking good in that swimsuit.
I started at 1 push up and now I can do 5. I don't think I'll get to 100, but 30-40 wouldn't bother me. :) Let see if this works.
  • Count me in... I'm not going to pick up the Android app just yet, I'll stick with the program for a few weeks before doing that, but it looks interesting.

Hey! I'm currently doing the 100 pushups challenge too, along with some other great people from MFP.

In fact, we've got a Facebook group going on, where we track our progress through the weeks. We've been at it a few weeks now, but you're more than welcome to jump right in and join us! =D Just search for '100 pushups challenge!' (include the exclamation mark) and you'll see the group right there. The programme's really good at getting those biceps in order! :)

They dont have an app for Blackberry yet but I can do it without the app also. Any increase in upper body strength would be a plus!! Welcome to all who joined in. I am starting today, I will post how I did.

Wow, even 3 pushups are really hard. I did day one and proud of it.
Since I downloaded the app, I also started 200 squat in 6 weeks and 150 dips. This way I will exercise more parts of the body.
I managed to do an impressive 60 squats in the test, so I will start at week 3, column 2. That makes me feel great.
On the other hand, I did only 12 dips, which puts me in week 1 day 1 column 1. My arms need lots of toning.
BTW, the app for the phone is great, it also sets a reminder on the calendar.

I would like to participate in this challenge.. as many others have said I do my cardio independently but I need to start focusing on strength training and I could use a support system.
I will download the app tonight and start tomorrow.

In bootcamp class last week I couldnt manage push ups without using my knees. I am excited to earn this achievement from scratch using this challenge!

I will do the fit test tonight and make that determination. I may have to start there as well. I keep telling myself I was on my knees because I was wore out from the bootcamp.. but deep down I know its really because I am stinking weak!!

BUT--- I will be strong in 6 weeks and thats what keeps my focus. :)

Can't start on your knees. There isn't enough weight to do a real good form push up. You better start with just one push up but in good form. In 3 days you will be at 3 push ups.
I do not believe it myself, but now I can do 4 push ups after only one week. I think I'll do 6-7 in another week. That is not bad at all and is doable.
Go for the real thing and good luck. :)

Completer week 1 day 2. It was really hard. Even putting together 3 push ups is a whole workout. Finished the 3 4 2 3 4 series and my arms and pectoral muscles are all sore. I guess it is a good thing. Can't wait to put get to 10 in a set.
  • Fail. I've sprained my wrist and can't put any weight on it...I think doing 15 straight is good enough at this time...good luck everyone.
