Anyone else on a low carb diet?

It's working wonders for me. I now realise it's those evil carbs and their insulin spiking ways that have been making me fat all my life.

Yes I am in "Phase II" of a low carb diet, where I have added back lentils, beans, and low sugar fruits. I have been low carbing it for about a year and when I don't fall off the band wagon it works great! Even when I do binge on carbs for a while, like on vacation, as long as I don't go way over on calories, I still maintain. I love low carb, though. The only thing I ever really miss is pasta, so thank goodness for Dreamfields 5 net carb pasta! My husband can't even tell the difference. I only eat it once every week or two, because I'm sure overdoing on it wouldn't be great, but it curbs my pasta cravings! Add me if you like.0

Ive given up bread completely, im only on day 3 and am doing it as an experiment really to see if my weight loss speeds up, looking forward to my weigh in. good luck xx0

I mainly found it useful in curbing my cravings, but it did speed up my loss too. I'm trying to keep under 50g of carbs but it usually ends up being around 50-120g.0

Did that, lost weight, when I stopped, it all came back. Be warned, diets don't work, lifestyle changes do. If you chose a low carb diet, what you should be aware of is that you will need to make it a low carb lifestyle. I finally bit the bullet and chose what I think is the hardest way to lose weight, but most effective. Eating healthy, counting calories, exercising.
"People think of a diet as something they "go on" for a certain period of time. But a healthy diet should be continued throughout your life, and should incorporate meal planning, exercise and being aware of what you eat", said Katherine Tallmadge, a registered dietitian and author of "Diet Simple".
Weight maintenance is what is hard, after you lose the weight. I did atkins and lost 15 lbs. I then realized how important whole grains are for the body and chose to eat it again. I was not counting my calories and gained all the weight back. I'm not saying stop what your doing if it is working, but if you ever stop a low carb diet, you will gain lots of weight back unless you are very careful about how you do it.0 -
I know what you are talking about with carbs. Have you ever read The Carbohydrate Addcits Diet? I don't consider myself on a low carb diet as I don't count carbs. I simply do my best to avoid all refined carbohydrates as much as possible. I am not a big veggie fan so that means lots of protein, in fact if you do have insulin spikes from carbs than a little protein every time you eat a carb will help you a lot. I still have buns(love them) and bread to make a sandwich, etc. What I don't have is donuts, cake, bread with butter, cookies, etc. My worst enemy are refined carbs and if you sprinkle sugar on them then it is better/worse.
I made this into a lifestyle. I had to, if I don't then I eat everything in sight and suffer OCD, anxiety and depression along with weight gain. Anytime I do indulge in cake/cookies etc. I make it a tiny amount, like one bite and maybe once every few months.0
