Hallo everyone, I suppose I got to where I am just like most other people ate to much and just didn't burn it off, the past 12 months have been really difficult lost my dad , my dog my mother I law, had a cancer scare , and seemed to ignore my increasingly tight fitting frumpy clothes, then I saw some photos of me .....and I was shocked , I was as wide as a door ......so I got on the scales .....and I swear I never want to see that weight again, so today is the start of my battle which I intend to win, I don't have all the answers ...how I will cope with emotional eating , increase my activity , but I'm going to give it my best shot. I'm going to buy a fit bit to make sure I move more , I'm going to take one day at a time . I would welcome suggestions and ideas from anyone out there who has won the battle .

I had a diagnosis of sleep apnea and gained 40 lbs. I know it is not a loss of a family member, but i forced myself to get off my butt. First, I got rid of all the food that tempts me ( pasta, chocolate). I started walking with my dog and kayakin 2x aa week. I suggest that you walk with a friend everyday. I promise you will find that the endorphins will help you feel better,0

You can do it. Remember, eat less, move more. Pick a reasonable weight loss goal (2lbs at the max, less if you're not very obese). Eat the foods you love, just in moderation. I prefer to think of it as ADDING healthy foods to my diet -- fruits and veggies, which I naturally eat very few of -- rather than cutting foods out. Then I just have to make it fit my calories for the day. Weigh all of your food, and log EVERYTHING (even when you know you've eaten badly). Minimize drinking your calories so that you can eat more. If you don't feel full, try changing up what you're eating (fat and protein tend to be more filling -- cottage cheese is GREAT for that).
ANY exercise is good for you. It doesn't have to be hardcore. Exercise is for increasing fitness, diet is for losing weight. Eat back some of your exercise calories. Find a way to enjoy moving (I listen to audio books while I walk). Don't weigh every day, and don't freak out about minor fluctuations in weight. That's natural.
And remember, what you do EVERY DAY matters more than what you do SOMETIMES. In the app, you can see your weekly average by hitting the "nutrition" button at the bottom of your diary. That will give you a bigger picture insight into how well you're doing.1
