Just feeling unsatisfied!

I kinda skipped breakfast this morning. Didn't mean to. But got busy with the kids and by the time I realized "Hey, I'm hungry!" It was already almost noon. So I still made my protein shake (what I planned on having for breakfast) but just felt unsatisfied. I wanted to EAT. So I made a salad. Used very little dressing (probably not even 1 tbsp) and a little sunflower seeds. It was really good- but still feeling unsatisfied- yet not hungry at all (Wasn't even hungry when I decided to eat the salad).
I know this is "mind over matter" but what can I do to take my mind off of it? I cleaned nearly the entire house this morning so that's out. It's way too hot to be outside (Many people are having heat strokes!!)....So the kids and I are just sitting inside, which of course doesn't help, and they'll be going down for a nap within the next 30 minutes! And I know when they go down, I'm going to be so tempted to go raid the kitchen, looking for something to satisfy me. The bad part is- I don't even know what it is I'm craving!
HELP!! I want to avoid the kitchen! How can I keep my mind away from it?

have you had enough water? thirst is often misperceived as hunger or an unindentified craving. Try drinking two glasses of water next time you feel unsatisfied. That might help. and make sure you drink plenty of water. with the heat you're having you should be drinking way more than just the 8 glasses most people try for.0

Do some kind of exercise now and drink a full glass of water. It will kill the appetite and being dehydrated will make you feel hungry.
Be patient this "I'm hungry" sensation only lasts a couple weeks or so. It goes away.0 -
When I am bored and I am stuck inside for whatever reason, and all I can think to do is to E-A-T, I will sit down with my big jug of water, and maybe a bowl of carrots and play a game on my computer. If you are on Facebook, they have tons of super fun games. Or even just a game of solitare, either on the computer or even better with a deck of cards (the good ole fashioned way!!) This will keep yer hands busy and the carrots and water are free and good for you so it is a win win!! Good luck!!!!

Your body is probably missing something it needs. Review what you've been eating over the last couple of weeks and compare it to your macros. You might find that something is way off somewhere.0

Do you have a workout dvd that you could do after the kids go down for their nap? Even if you don't have any dvds, you can do some simple exercises. I find that exercising often takes away my urge to eat. Plus if you do still feel hungry afterwards you now have some calories that you can "eat back".0

No, I haven't had any water at all today! Yikes! Didn't even think of that!
I've never been good at remembering to keep hydrated! Which I suppose is why I can't tell the difference between hungry/unsatisfied and thirsty!

When I get that "I'm hungry" feeling but I know I just ate I pour myself another glass of water or crystal light and I sit and sip it for a while. Most of the time the hunger pangs go away. If they don't I try to go for a short walk with a bottle of water.0
