I posted this on the fitness forum but think it may be better here?? (Sorry to duplicate)

My work is very demanding & leaves me drained. I am ALWAYS tired & I'm starting to look pale & pasty
I leave home around 7am, usually do an hours drive then I present cooking shows to a couple of hundred primary aged kids all day (prep from 8 til 930. Present from 930 until 230 - or- until 330 (depending on show format) then drive home, after washing up & packing my equipment away & into the car. All with no breaks (I eat lunch standing up as quick as possible!) I literally do not sit down other than driving.
When I get home I start over as I have 3 kids to look after. Needless to say I don't feel much like going for a run or taking a class & I can't afford a gym.
I have upped my work level so now I get 1270cal instead of 1200cal, but it was suggested to me the other day that I may not be eating enough with all the running around I do. I do try & fit in a walk in the week & longer walks at weekends but that's about all I can manage.
Is it possible that one of the reasons I'm so tired is that I'm not getting enough calories?? I stick to the 1270 everyday & sometimes go a tiny bit under.

Any advice gratefully received

(the right) Food is fuel, so yes, you may need to be taking in more calories. You could add 100cals/day for a few days and see how you feel. If that doesn't help, try adding a little more. I would just add gradually until you see what will work for you and your body. Also, be sure you're getting plenty of sleep also, more than 6 hours. You could look into purchasing an at home yoga-style video to help with some de-stressing, perhaps.

I've certainly been getting my sleep! I crash before 10pm every night! (poor boyfriend!!)

I don't seem to be really shifting my excess weight & was wondering if it's because I'm not eating enough???? I like the idea of destressing & I think I have a yogalates DVD, just never got round to trying it.

    Thanks x

I would say to eat more if you're tired as you say, but add gradually. Some days I'm more hungry, so I eat more. And in fact, I was just able to break a plateau by eating more -- weird, huh?!?

YES!!! What level do you have your activity set to? I would suggest moderate might be good. I personally would eat 1400-1500 calories on average daily (without exercise) if I were you. If you're that tired, you probably need more nourishment.

100 calories is an not even noticeable by our bodies. The most important thing is to listen to your body. If your hungry, eat something. Just don't eat 12 of that something.

I'm assuming this depends how important the numbers are to you. Some people (like me) really dig on the numbers part of weight loss. In any case, eating just 75cals a day (over and above maintenance) can result in approx. 7.8lbs gained per year. So, I think the body might notice those calories. Just saying every calorie counts. :)

I'd suggest investing in a really good multivitamin, some B12, and vitamin D. Also make sure you're getting enough protein. I wish you well.

Thanks everyone. Will try the B12. Have heard it's good have changed work level to moderate & I'm making sure I eat all my calories & if I'm hungry I just top up on fruit or something else healthy x Shifted 1lb this week. That's 5lbs in 3 weeks x

There was a post the other day in which the OP posted that they were tired all the time. One of the things suggested was to check iron intake. I'm frequently tired myself, so I changed my settings to show iron and noticed that I was seriously lacking in iron most days. My thyroid has already been tested. I now make sure to watch that and take a multivitamin to supplement when needed. Just a thought.
