I'll be 45 on Wednesday. I find it helps that no matter what year your in tell yourself your at the top of your game, it's more effective if it's actually the truth which I have been able to honestly say every June 29th but even if it isn't...well that's okay too

Thanks for the responses. I tend to eat pretty clean, I just short myself on certain nutrients. Using this app I hope to have better balanced meals. Tone down a little

I feel you... 37 here and three kids. Hard to stay fit when you're doing all that and work too. Mfp is good like that since five minutes a day keeps you on track.

I think he said 'older' as in He's looking ahead and being smart, got kids and wants to be fit. :+1:@amnima

Old is a state of mind.. you're only as old as you feel and you allow your mind to be. I'm not sure what the word "old' means anymore..the older we get the meaning of 'old' changes.

Ageless... that's a great way to be... life one day at time...moment by moment. lol

When doing manual labor your whole life your body does need more attention so you don't break down. I know I'm not old but in high intensity work situations I am older. Learn to work smarter, not harder.

Wow, none of you have a clue about getting old....LOL, I'd trade places in a skinny minute. At 66 and still trying to become leaner and have more defined muscles you have no idea how easy you have it!!!!

I'll try to sympathize though..... ;)

I can understand what you mean. Tough physical labor can age your body much faster. Good job and making the choice now to make adjustments and stay in the best shape possible.

LOL, I was just complaining about being old at a workout earlier today and then a 48 year old blew past me like I was walking. I'm 46 and trying to feel like a 26 year old again...I've got a loooong way to go and obviously age is just a mindset...to a degree.

Well I saw this thread called getting old and stopped in!!! Getting OLD is a state of mind! I must be 130 years old or is that dog years?

OP it is good that you are taking strides early on with your health.. but 34 by far is not getting old.. I did not start until 1 1/2 years ago until I got my last kid in college.

Welcome to the community! At the end of this year I'll turn 45. I'm an empty nester and it took this year to finally get serious about my wellness. I am down to my pre-baby weight of 118 losing 18 lbs and am physically active doing things I never would have thought I could before. I am a happy more positive person (also something that I wasn't before). I feel like every decade has been better than the one before. The better one feels about themselves the less age matters. That being said, I can imagine how difficult constant physical activity can be. My husband was in construction all his early life and it takes its toll.
