Running Music

I'm bored with my music and would like a chance to listen to music I normally wouldn't but I don't want to be constantly buying new songs... are there any podcasts or iphone app radio stations that allow you to listen to music that's good for running?

Download the Pandora app to your phone and customize your own radio station (all for free!) I personally like to work out to metal and hard rock.

It probably doesn't help much but in case you are just looking for new music to run to, I LOVE running to the soundtrack of Burnout
(1 to 3 are all good!)
Right now I am on part 3:

Burnout is a car racing game that my husband used to play on the Xbox and I remembered that it had real "pacing" music. I tried it and yeah - it's the best :-)

DJ Steve Boyett puts out a weekly mix called Podrunner. Free thru iTunes, it's on my iPod when I run.

I am not really a fan of Pandora... The people who "listen to the same music as me" have really poor taste.

Instead, I like running to dance/mashup mixes (it gets the blood flowing for me)

    So I recommend:

iClub (Mixes of today's most popular trance/electronic music)
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/iclub/id317125603

iClub: Mashed (mixes of today's hottest music)
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/iclub-mashed/id409451604

These are podcasts, by the way
  • If anyone likes They Might Be Giants
They have free podcast on ITunes.

  • Whenever I'm at the gym I always listen to Pandora on my iPhone. It's great cause all you have to do is type in an artist or song title that you like and Pandora will create a whole station based off of that! It's a little annoying though cause you're only allowed like 5 skips per hour per station, so I have like 5 or 6 stations that I bounce around to.
I don't know what kind of music you usually listen to, but I'm a country & rap girl and when I'm at the gym I usually stick to rap because it gets me motivated and pumped up to exercise. Here are some good, blood pumpin' stations: "Destiny's Child radio", "Power (by Kanye West) radio", "Pretty Girl Rock (by Keri Hilson) radio", "Coming Home (by Diddy Dirty Money) radio", "Nelly radio", "Nicki Minaj radio", "Kanye West radio" Lemme know if this helps!

Hahahaha! I feel the same way. I like Pandora only after 2 weeks of customizing a station and even then I get random crap I don't want to have to flip through when I'm in mid-run. I will check those out, thanks!!

I love listening to dance music when I'm working out. It helps me to push harder and be more dead tired after a workout. I subscribe to Rhapsody so I have an unlimited amount of music to listen to. =)

I haven't completed my playlist yet, but I'm a bit of a rock chick, so I have some Van Halen (insanely motivating!!), some Hinder, Automatic Loveletter, Halestorm, Paramore, Three Days Grace, Avenged Sevenfold, Thirty Seconds to Mars.

I find 80s rock to be overall the most inspirational. I feel absolutely invincible, like I could run forever. I need to finish my playlist though before I get bored of what I already have.

A few rock (Heavy Metal) songs I like:

    "Remember to Forget" by Otep
"Bay of Pigs" by The Acacia Strain
    "Wicked World" by Cold
    "Perseverance" by Hatebreed

I've found that some people with like one of these but hate another. I listen to these and many others of the genre while lifting, I can't run to this music just as I can't lift to dance music

Haha, me too! I often use my Footloose soundtrack for inspiration. Thank god no one knows what I'm listening too! And other times I need angrier music so I go with Danzig or NIN. I don't want to associate all my good music with running though, lol!
