Realization about food

Today I made a Lo carb/Lo cal pizza and I was hungry and excited about eating it. So I sat down and ate the first few bites not really paying attention. Then I realized that I was taking bites before swallowing what was already in my mouth. So I made myself put down the slice in between bites and really enjoy what I was tasting. Turns out I wasn't that thrilled with the tasting and chewing. HERE IS THE REALIZATION PART.....My endorphins don't spike when I am actually chewing the food, they spike at the hand putting the food in my mouth. Isn't that wild? No wonder I am overweight. This changes the game and my dysfunctional relationship with food.

Please friend me! I need some support. Just started this past Monday for the umpteenth time. Really want to lose these pesky 55 lbs within 1 year.

What gets me is the initial taste of the food. After it's been in my mouth a few seconds I don't even notice or enjoy the taste anymore. I added you as a friend. I have about 50 lbs to lose myself, let's do this together! :)

Yup! First two bites are the best! Wonder if I can use this concept when craving foods (only putting down 2 bite size servings, then stopping?)

One of the things that's surprised me on my MFP journey is how much more I'm truly enjoying food - not just eating, but selecting it and preparing it as well. (I'm at goal weight, having lost 60+ pounds.)

It's not because I'm hungry - I haven't been particularly hungry since experimenting with the time & composition of my eating back when I first started losing, and finding a routine that was satisfying for me.

It just feels like some dormant food-enjoyment circuits in my brain woke up & came back online, now that I'm not mindlessly shoveling everything into my mouth willy-nilly all the time.
