Couch to 5k & Bridge to 10k

I just officially completed couch to 5k!!! And i was one minute away from being able to run a complete 5k in 30 minutes. So my mom had a great idea that i should keep repeating week 9 of c25k until i can complete it within my time limit before i move on to B210k.
What do you guys think? Have any of you completed it either or both of these programs? What has your experience been? Any advice for me?
In the past 9 weeks, i've lost about 6 inches off of my thighs (as well as fat loss all around), and the muscles in my legs are definitely harder and stronger now! I feel so accomplished because 2 months ago I would never have believed I could run one minute without stopping, let alone 30!
DONT EVER TELL YOURSELF YOU CANT DO SOMETHING!!!! you will surprise yourself! i did

Congratulations! I would start B25K. If it is too strenuous then go back to C25K. You might surprise yourself! Sounds like you are ready!
Good luck!0 -
I can't run a 5k in 30 mins but I just keep running. I just do what I can. I'm thinking about starting up the b210k though. I'm not sure if I want to work on speed with the 5k, or move on to distance.0

Are you wanting to go for distance or speed? That's going to make the difference.0 -

but if i had to choose one, I choose distance0 -

Then work on speed for a day or two a week and distance for the others. It's what I'm planning on doing!0 -
Here's my 2 cents
Essentially, if you do one, you're going to attain the other... you can't increase your speed and lose distance and vice versa, but the thing is, you're doing this via treadmill, so the EASIEST thing for you to do is to work on your speed, since you can set it and maintain it. If you were running outside like me, it's easier to work on distance, since I can't maintain a steady speed.
If you just keep working on your speed, you'll get your distance, probably even faster than if you just worked on distance because you're forcing your body to go faster and it will adjust (because the human body is awesome like that )
I honestly wouldn't jump to bridge 2 10k until you're totally comfortable with running a good strong 5k. What's the rush? Our goal is to be healthy, strong runners and you're not going to do that by trying to rush the process, right? Once you feel the 5k isn't a challenge (meaning you hit it within 30 minutes w/o forcing it ...and believe me, you will get to that point... remember when you said you felt like you were going to slow and and to bump up your speed?) then you'll be able to start the B210k and you probably won't feel a bit of anxiety about it because you "studied" haha!
Anyway, I had thought about this during my run this morning and thought I'd jump in the convo
Keep up the great work0 -
