I have been stalled at 147 for the last TWO months. I have been dieting and working out for the last 10 months and i still haven't reached my goal weight. i have lost 43 pounds and just cant seem to get any more off. I'm getting very depressed about it and am almost ready to just give it up. I rode my bike 15 miles today (5 miles of it in the pouring rain.. so i really have been working) I look into the mirror every day and still see the same fat person...
sorry so down.. just not doing well today.

Don't give up, mix it up! Eat for maintenance for a week, or zig zag your calories for a week between maintenance and restricted. Try cutting out most of your carbs. Go gluten free for a couple weeks. If you're not already eating totally clean, give that a go for a while. Add in some serious strength training 3x a week for a couple months. Do a 24-hr fast each week. There's so many things you can try that can jump start your diet, just pick one and see how it goes.
Also, if you decide you want to quit, don't do it out of failure to become super skinny like a fitness model, do it because you really do look great!0 -
Don't beat yourself up! You've come so far and should be sooo proud.
Question: How many calories do you normally eat? I glanced at your journal and am wondering if you're not eating enough compared to what you're burning.0 -
did you start your weight loss journey when you joined here? because I'm about to slap you one if you have!! 43 lbs is amaaaazing! congrats!!
i've posted before how i couldn't understand why i wasn't losing weight. i logged all my calories...exercised 6 days a week. then i went on vacay and didn't do either. i came home and lost weight!!
i think i was eating too few calories. i have read many times how people added calories only to find themselves losing weight. it just seemed counter intuitive to me.
zig zagging is a definite plus. especially if you've messed up your metabolism the way i have in the past.
good luck0 -
I've never measured inches but maybe you need to start if you're not? It could be muscle. Muscle weighs the same as fat but takes up less room!0

Congratulations! As for the losing weight, you've probably lost inches. Better yet maybe your body is toning up all around and you are not able to see it fully. Don't worry. Continue with your progress. Good luck.0

ever wonder is this is your actual goal weight? maybe your body likes this weight and now its about toning, muscle and that's that0

I'm very happy with the progress i have made.. I have lost 43 pounds and gone from a size 16 to a size 6. I know in my head that i am thinner, i see my jeans and think how small they are now.. HOWEVER... my eye still see the fat person.. the scale is my enemy and the mirror seems to only reflect back an image of a fat person. I have never thought i was thin.. even at 110 pounds i felt i was fatter than most of the kids... in my 20's i weighed around 130 and was told many times, mostly by my mother, that it was ashame someone so young is so fat. so when i see the scale at 147 ... I MUST be fat.. because i was fat at 130.
so i guess the big question is .. how do i change my self image to match my new body....0 -
**** your mother. Not literally, that's sick, but I mean that's a messed up way to talk to your kids, just cruel.
How do you fix your brain? Slowly, in fits and starts, same as losing weight. Learn to meditate, and do it every day for as long as you can handle. Notice what you say to yourself inside your head, particularly how you think about yourself. Learn to catch yourself talking **** about yourself inside your head, and then stop it whenever you can. Learn to turn around negative self-reflections into growth and change-oriented statements, like if you're saying 'I'm too weak and I can't do this, I'm too ****ed up to make this work', say 'struggle is normal, and I'm slowly making headway, and as much as it sucks right now, it will keep getting easier'. Hammer on it and hammer on it and hammer on it, and keep picking yourself up off the floor every time you crash and burn in self-hatred, keep digging into your inner talk, and it will in fact get easier. It might be something you'll always struggle with, but it can get a LOT easier over time. Seeing a therapist or even just talking to someone with real wisdom and compassion on a regular basis can be a huge help. :-)0
