Not losing weight but sticking to calories and exercising

Hi I've been sticking to the calories and exercising madly for about 10 weeks now and despite being overweight I am stuck at a 5lb weight loss for the last 5 weeks - I don't eat all my exercise calories as not convinced the amount you earn is right but would have expected to have lost at least a pound a week - any tips or clues as to why I am losing?? I am mainly running with bodypump classes when I can fit them in

How much weight do you have to lose? How's your logging? Do you use a food scale? Use the recipe builder? Use accurate entries? Is your exercise routine new - you could be retaining water.0

I love bodypump! Keep up the weight lifting for sure.
That's a bummer to hear about your "plateau". What does "exercising madly" mean for you?
The lack of weight loss could be due to several factors. Take a look at the following and see if one applies to your situation.
-losing fat and replacing it with muscle (has your size changed at all?)
-dehydration and subsequent constipation
-underestimating calories in (eating for maintenance not weight loss)
-overestimating calories burned (the calories you are eating back equal the calories burned through exercise)

When I face the same problem, I read this site. It really helps remind me what's important: http://www.acaloriecounter.com/blog/why-am-i-not-losing-weight/3

Have you taken measurements? I went through a stagnant stage only to discovered despite very little weight loss there was major centimeter loss around my thighs. Don't get discouraged by what you see on the scales because muscle gain maybe the answer.2

Do you mean in 10 weeks you lost 5lb in the first 5 weeks, but nothing for the last 5 weeks?
Or
You've dieted for 10 weeks but only lost 5lbs in the last 5 weeks?
If the latter, 1lb per weeks seems about right, depending on how much you have to lose.
If the former, then double check your logging is super accurate.
I think it's wise not to eat back all your exercise calories, you might need to increase your calorie deficit. but also check your body measurements as mentioned in the reply above.
Good luck!

How's your sodium intake? I faithfully log and workout (I've lost 21 total in the last 5 weeks) but if I ever go over my sodium, I will see the scale jump 1-2lbs from water retention.1

sounds like you made need a more "intense" change in some if not all areas in your weight loss attempts. Try a different type of cardio/weight training. Also get better sleep, by better I mean more. Cut your sugars and try to control your stress. Those things will effect your weight loss drastically!!!0
