It looks as if you're using a scale for some food items and measuring cups for others. It's more accurate to use a scale for all solid foods. Also, I seem some "homemade" entries that were from the database. These can be very unreliable (you don't know who created the entry, how accurate they were, if your recipe is like theirs, etc). You might want to consider using the recipe builder on this website to get the calories for homemade items.2

@rhazelt You have a good start.
The minimum calories for women is 1200. Eat 1200. Eat more protein and fat. (It is o.k. to go under on carbs but pay attention to fat and protein.)
The problem with using the "Homemade - Two Medium Egg, Mushroom, Bacon, Green Pepper, and Onion Omlette, 1 Omlette" entry from the data base is that the person who put that together included only the calories, so we do not have the number of the grams of protein and fat.
I also recommend using the recipe builder.0 -
thanks alot guys. trying to build my own recipes now. However. if for instance im making soup in bulk just for the week, how do i count the calories in that? @janejellyroll @RodaRose ose

You are making progress. I only tried the Recipe builder for one meal so I am not an expert.
Maybe start a new thread with Recipe Builder in the title.0 -

Measure the ingredients as accurately as you can, measure the results (contents of your pot of soup), decide what constitutes a serving (what does it weight?) and carefully enter all this in the recipe builder.
Sounds like a pain but you get fast at it and once its done, it's done. The recipe builder is not hard to use as long as you are careful about the ingredients you enter.0 -

Weigh each of your ingredients and add them to the recipe builder. After it's cooked you can either portion it into equal portions to set the serving size, or you can weigh the final dish, subtract the weight of the pot, and set that as the number of servings. That way when you ladle out 250g, you can count 250 servings.0 -
Thank you. That helps.0
