How to avoid junk food?

How do you guys stay strong and avoid junk food? I'm really good at not buying it, but my husband does despite my request not to. He says, "just don't eat it." Well...it's hard, I have self control in the store but not at home. How do you acquire that self control?

I fit it in my daily calories. I don't deprive myself of anything I want.0

Eat something else.
I figured out that I craved potato chips when I needed salt. So rather than eating potato chips, I started eating salted cucumber slices. I've rarely touched potato chips in a year and a half, nor have I craved them.
I like chocolate and used to eat a lot of bars of it. Now I have a bit of nutella on toast for an evening snack. Yep, it fits within my calorie limit.1 -
It's all about choices! If you can fit a serving of your fave chips or cookies into your calories, I say do it. There will always be junk food or foods that aren't ideal around where ever you go. Your job is to find out which of them you like the most and make them fit into your day. Yesterday, I knew there was a food truck coming to work, so I allotted the calories for it and enjoyed my food! I ate less at dinner and skipped a snack. Worked like a charm. Best of luck!0

It is hard, unless you plan ahead. I have an hour commute to work, and those fast food places are taunting when I'm hungry. So instead, at 5:00 I grab an apple and a single serving of cheese that I bring to work, to munch on as I drive home. Keeps me out of drive thru lanes anyway. At home, I am not so sure about how to advise you, except don't buy junk, or have it in the house. Get something as a treat once in a while, but don't stock it. If hubby buys it, that makes it harder, but you can do other things to motivate yourself. Put a picture of someone you want to look like on the fridge - as a goal, and to deter you from a binge. And remember, progress not perfection. Or if you can't control it, have HALF of a serving, and destroy the rest. Good luck!0

Do you weigh and measure and log your food here? If so, do that with treats / junk food first. The numbers generally outweigh the few moments of yumminess. Not saying you shouldn't ever have junk food, but take a moment and decide whether it will be worth it or not. If you immediately regret it then that only sets up a negative, endless cycle in relation to food.0
