I FINALLY see the difference

Over the past 3 years, I've lost about 95 pounds through eating right and exercising, but I still hadn't been able to wrap my head around my current size.

We live in the mountains and have a game cam set up to see what critters visit us overnight. I pulled the SD card today and loaded the photos onto my computer and saw photos of myself working in the garden.

I was wearing my work out clothes and had my hair up in a sloppy bun, was sweaty and dirty. But what caught my breath was my size! I am so much smaller!!!

Daily people compliment me on my success, I've gone from a 2XL to a M and at 58 years old I am literally healthier than I have ever been, but I just didn't get it. Whenever I am in photos, I'm always sucking in my gut, hand on hip, nice smile and trying my best to look thin.

These were photos of me when I wasn't posing, I was just being me doing what I do and finally I can see exactly just how far I have come. I'm so proud of myself.

Congratulations and enjoy! If you're like me you'll still be poking your belly and other areas a few years from now to confirm it's real and it's really you.

The mirror is a cruel companion at first, we work so hard and we keep looking and the progress is slow and it can seem like nothing is happening.
It's really gratifying when you can finally recognize the changes you've made.

Personally as a bachelor I had turned over my mirrors lol.

Well done you! It's a big step to be able to get out of your old "images" of yourself and realise who you are now.

I've been thinking about your post a bit. It reminded me that my hubby recently showed me a video of me in my prior fat days. I was wearing a shirt that I now use as pajamas. In the video, that shirt was tight. Now, it's at least 4 sizes too big. Makes a great nightie! LOL

It really is great to recognize your progress. I could not handle this journey if I felt I wasn't progressing. It doesn't have to be linear and steady, but it has to occur. I used to hide from cameras and mirrors. I used to literally avoid seeing myself. Now I don't. I actually check myself out in the mirror! I hope you feel the same

    Congrats, thereshegoesagain!

I know what you mean about seeing yourself in pictures. I had some pics taken of my hubby and me on my b'day this past June. In it, I was wearing a sparky top that I only wore once or twice before...and 50 lbs. heavier, and wow, what a difference! I've still got about 75 to get to my goal, but I'm so psyched! I just turned 60 (gah, sounds old) but am feeling twenty years younger! Two knee replacements, (2012, 2015) able to work out - and just move w\o pain, and the 50 lb. weight loss makes me feel fantastic - most days, anyway. Lol

BTW, when I started, weighed 264, now, 214, was sz. 2x/3x, jeans sz. 24. Now 1x pants,, XL tops, 20 jeans, some 18's. It's still big, but sooo much less big, that I almost feel thin in comparison. Got serious this past January (after recuperating from knee surgery) and have lost 34 since then - a nice 5-6 lbs. a month.
