Stopping Shred

Hi there
Well I have decided to stop shred, my knees (joints) were aching/burning like toothaches during the day and at night, so that is not normal, I believe it is from the cardio (jumping jacks, rope skipping )portion. I will continue on with the weight portion and introduce back the squats to see if that had an affect and for cardio I will do just plain old walking!!!!! I don't care to ruin anything trying to get fit. It may be the weight I am carrying affecting the knees and that has to go but will do by walking. I will join the gym in the fall again, summer is just too busy and I would rather be outside....as for the eating, that has been a disaster ....I was on vacation a few days at the cottage and between company ....which means cocktails, potlucks........have to get that under control but what can I say........I don't feel good eating that stuff so I hope to stop that as of today!!!! I also am very much missing yoga which i did all winter, but now that summer is here there really aren't any classes where I live and if anyone has not tried yoga it is absolutely fabulous!!!! So that is my story with shred, I am not trying to be a whimp but I just didn't want to injure something.........

I sometimes have problems with my knees while doing 30DS, oviously during cardio. I think it's the fact I'm overweight and not so fit. about 3 months ago I had problems with knees even when I walked the stairs and after I started the gym it went away, and only sometimes I get it. It was never as painful as yours that it would last after the exercise, if my knees start to hurt during 30DS I will stop and do some mini cheating cardio exercise that don't put so much weight on my knees. You are right it's better to do the weight training instead of ruining your knees, it's quite scary how sometimes my knees crunch while exercising hihi
I'm sure walking and some gentle exercises will be better for the knees, and once you get lighter and fitter you will be able to do all the cardio in 30DS
Good luck and don't give up0 -
You can get yourself some resistance bands and look up all kinds of videos online to workout at home and even outside.
There are also yoga dvds for working out at home.

This guy has a ton of videos of different exercises that you can quickly do at home.
No excuses. :happy:0 -
Always listen to your body!
A few things I have learned:
Never let your knees go over your toes when doing a squat of any kind.
ALWAYS stretch after.
I would be stressed for time and skip the end of videos. Well this is where they do the cool down and stretch portions, which are VERY important.
Better to skip 10 min in the middle, than to skilp the beginning or end.

I do the shred in combination with other things during the week. When they do jumping jacks, I substitute jogging in place, etc... My knees can't handle too much.
Best,
