 :love: I am so in love with this Zumba dance class I just took at my neighborhood YMCA! I burned almost 500 calories in an hour and the music is really upbeat and fun. Has anyone else done this class?

  • I have been doing Zumba at the YMCA for quite some time and I love it too!! You can burn a ton of calories in an hour and it is fun! It is by far my favorite type of exercise.

I went to one class and left before the music even started! I got so intimidated! The instructor was going over moves without the music and I couldn't even keep up...terrified of how bad it would be with the music!

    Should I try again????

I have done it, but it really depends on the instructor to make it worth it. In our GYM we have different instructors and each one offers a different routine. Some routines are pretty boring and low calorie burning and others the opposite.
  • does it work im trying to lose post baby fat...and be comfortable when we go on vacation next month....so fat burning is important..

absolutely!!!:flowerforyou:  Everyone has a first day at Zumba:tongue: ...just keep up as you can, if you feel safer in the back row...go for it! Everyone has fun so it's not a high pressure type class. Great workout and it almost doesn't feel like a hard workout because of the great music and plus time goes so quickly!

Weights are great for toning, muscle burns fat...so you have a go at that. Zumba is a cardio which of course is the other 1/2 of a great workout! It's burn cals for sure, then add in eating healthy, plenty of water and you've got yourself a good mix for health:drinker:

I just found some classes by my house and they fit with my schedule. I used to do Jazzercise and I really miss it but there aren't any classes close enought for me that fit into my schedule.

Do you think I would be able to keep up? I really am not a good dancer, 2 left feet but I love the atmosphere of lots of people doing the sam thing. I LOVED Jazzercise. Do you need any special equipment or clothing?

    Memaw

(is this something that big people can do or is it for people who are already thin?)

Well I'm not small and I do it:wink::tongue: People of all shapes and sizes in all the classes I"ve tried out.

Well, if you can do the jazzercise routines then Zumba you should have no trouble with, it's like dance steps to music, so I never quite think of it as dancing per se. I think you might give it a shot and see how you like it memaw:flowerforyou:

  • I just did my second Zumba class today. LOVED it!! I thought it was pretty easy to keep up. For me, I focus on the footwork first and when I am ready add in the upper body moves. Must have worked well because the instructor complimented me after class! I ended up burning over 600 calories. Definitely will be doing this on a regular basis! Oh... one more thing to make it a little easier. If you have any tennis shoes that are lightweight, try wearing those. I noticed a huge difference today from that.
  • Definetly try it again! I was intimadated for the first few minutes but it was just so fun even not knowing most of the steps. The most fun I've had working out in a long time.
