Need to lose 100lbs

Options
My oh my, where do I start. I used to run marathons, work out 3 times a day, but ever since I broke my neck, I've just kept gaining weight! I don't want to be seen in public. I know, I need to get over it, but it's mental. It's hard. I truly need your help and encouragement. I may appear strong, but on the inside I'm so fragile. Will you help kick me into gear? My goal is to lose this weight by January. If possible.

100lbs by January? That's quite daunting. I think if you do the math, that's about 16lbs to lose a month-- which would be hard for everyone! Perhaps setting a more reasonable time in which to lose the weight would help you mentally. No doubt you can lose the weight, don't worry so much about the time, just focus on getting healthy! I also have 100lbs to lose (ontop of the 50 I've already lost). I too, used to be scared of working out in public with groups and in front of people, but after my first zumba class I got over it-- it was just too fun! You do you!

I also need to lose 100lbs...doing it by January would be awesome but would be happy with half that. I also really hate going out and it takes so much to force myself out - it's not so bad once I'm out but I have to block everything out so I don't start thinking too much!

Celticmedic - that's an amazing achievement! You always hear how you need trainers and specialists to lose a significant amount.

I'm in on losing 100 lbs! I'm sending out friend requests and welcome anyone else to add me if they're headed the same direction. Right now my biggest focus is on getting the hips shaved down to fit in a freaking airplane seat by the start of September as I don't want to pay for an extra seat. I'm going hard core as much as I can since my husband's undergoing surgery that will have him off his feet for two months in a week and I'm his primary caregiver. I've been down this road before, menopause hit me like a train and socked the pounds back on along with the depression that hit when my twin sons left for college (that was really rough according to my waist). With my tracker, the tires on my cruiser bike pumped back up, and the removal of all things junk, my only fear is the grocery store and impulse buys. ;)

I wanted to lose 90 pounds in a year, that was my 1 year goal. It's just over a year now and on my one year day, I had lost 67 pounds, so 23 short of my goal. I'm totally ok with it, BECAUSE.....I learned along the way, that weight comes off sooooo easy when you have 100 pounds or more to lose. I lost my first 50 in 6 months, barely trying, just limiting calorie intake. But then when you only have 20-30 to lose, it's much much slower and you have to work harder for it. So I'd say break down your goal into smaller goals. I initially broke down my goals month by month, with the MFP goal to lose 2 pounds a week, so 8 a month. After my first month I lost about 12 pounds. (Most months I lost 10+ pounds and then December was my 6th month and I only lost 2 pounds, on purpose. I didn't want January to roll around and feel deprived of my mother's amazing Christmas appetizers and cooking, lol.) Anyway, what I mean to say is, as an example, for month 1-3 aim to lose 8-12 pounds each month, then month 4-6 aim for 6-10 pounds each month, month 7-9 aim to lose 4-8 pounds, and so on. Simply because goals, when not attained, can be more discouraging than if you set realistic (or flexible) goals and achieved less weight loss but met your goal (as in, aiming to lose 100 in a year but only losing 80, is more discouraging than aiming to lose 60 in a year and losing 70. Less weight dropped, but still a kick butt goal achieved and you feel like superwoman.) Weight loss is 90% a mind game!
ALSO, on a totally superficial level, lol, if you lose weight fast, your skin droops, your face gets wrinkly and it's super discouraging! I stopped losing weight in month 8 because my facial skin looked AWFUL and I felt so old and discouraged (I'm 35). I started losing more slowly and my skin looks pretty dang beautiful now if I do say so :)
Good luck, and all the best! Regardless of what you choose for your goal, you'll be sooooo happy you started today instead of in another year!

Oh and I'll add, I also had a goal/idea to reassess my goal when I had dropped 70 pounds. I wasn't actually sure of how much I wanted/needed to lose. Now I've reassessed and I've changed my mind and now want to lose an overall 105 pounds. So I have 35ish more to go. Still not discouraged. If it's a mind game, you gotta keep your mind strong, encouraged and calm! I REFUSE to be discouraged, even when I don't lose anything for 2 weeks in a row sometimes! I tell myself "it's a lifestyle choice. Not a diet. Not a fad. Keep your chin up girl. You'll get there." :)

You can definitely do lose the 100lbs but by January might be a little too much. I don't feel like it would be healthy to lose that fast however if you work hard you will probably lose quite a bit by then

I have 107 lbs to lose, I think. I'm not 100% sure on what I want my final number to be but that's where I'm thinking for now.

I started January at 303lbs and was at 254 as of June 1st. Go me! Then I went on holidays for 18 days and gained 18lbs !!! How terrible is that?! I completely let go of everything I was doing and went back to the old me.... So sad , but I did it to myself so can't complain. Just do better.

We just got home today and I've been in a pretty horrible mood all day, after realizing how much I gained...

I'm restarting my journey, currently at 272lbs. Don't care when I reach my final number but want to lose 100lbs at least. Looking for friends to do it with! Feel free to add me or message me :)

I have about 101 total to lose. I've been carrying it around for 15 years. In 2001 I completed the Chicago marathon and have done 5 triathlons. So I get it. Look into the Whole30! I can't believe how much better I feel and how much more empowered I feel. I'm 47 days in and I'm down 23 pounds. And I'm eating 1500-1800 Cals a day. So I'm not starving myself. Just eating really clean. And moving again. You can do this!
