Calories burned on site vs HRM

This morning I walked/jogged 3.7 miles in a little over an hour. My HRM said I burned a little over 1000 calories, the site said I burned 373 calories. I usually eat back some of my exercise calories, but I am now at a 1200 calorie budget, so it is important to be pretty acurate so that my body doesn't plateau. I guess my question is which is more acurate? My HR average was 138 and peaked at 170, never going below 120 after my 5 minute warmup. I am 5'8" and weigh 181 lbs. I also read weather can be a factor, so I will give y'all that info to. It was 80 degrees with 70% humidity.
Thanks! oh, and sorry if I ramble!

I would go with your hrm.0

I just ran 7.5 miles at 6.7mph (AHR 154/ MHR 170) and burned 1000 cals according to my HRM. (5'9" @ 185lbs).
Most people burn roughly 100 cals per mile, with a little extra for adding hills, resistance, and intensity.
I would check the settings on your HRM... because it shouldn't be thaaaaaaat far off. In this case, I'd go with MFPs numbers.0 -
I always go with my HRM, the numbers on MFP can be really high or really low depending on the activity.0

I would underestimate in this case, especially since the numbers are ridiculously different. How long have you been using this HRM? Is it set up properly for your age, weight, height, gender? Do you consistently get the same numbers for the same distance?0

I always use my HRM reading - I find MFP too high for cals burned.
I also found that the treadmill in my gym which is a pretty new type of treadmill showed my Cals burned for 35 mins as 553 cals where as my HRM said 332 & I had jogged/run just over 3 miles.
Totally reinforced my thoughts to always use HRM for cals burned - just make sure HRM is set up for your details - it is a very big difference between the two - would you normally burn that amount of cals doing that exercise?0 -
What HRM are you using? Unless you have it set up properly its not going to be accurate for anything other than heart rate. Calories burned is just an equation that it uses to give an estimate and if your HRM is not set up right then the estimate is entirely meaningless0

Thanks! After everyone's advice, I realized I have not checked/changed the settings since I bought it (2 years ago). I need to adjust my recovery rate so that the HRM will know I am in better shape and can tolerate the higher heart rate better.
Thanks again!0
