I'm slowly trying to make the transition myself, and have a few ideas..but always could use a bit more ideas from diaries and maybe making some vegetarian/vegan friends? I can cut the eggs, dairy, and red meat..but still like chicken & fish..so i may start off like that and hopefully after some time, go Vegan. I looked up some ideas on vegangal.com and found some helpful ideas. I want to do this because of my health.

Just a quick hi! I'm also doing the whole vegetarian transition. I couldn't manage the complete vegan thing, I think, but kudos to you for trying it! My nephew is a vegetarian and uses a lot of quorn, soya and the such, and I'm quite the fan of quorn's mince and sausages, even before I decided to go meat free. Anyway, good luck! :D

LoL, if you eat fish you are not a vegetarian. :P

I'm a vegetarian. I would love to be vegan, but I currently live with my parents and they wouldn't be able to afford that for me, and neither can I. My major sources of protein right now are eggs and Greek yogurt, and I'm not sure nuts, beans, and oatmeal could really replace that. My dairy is pretty simple if you'd like to check it out. I live in the US as well.

Hey :) I'm pescatarian (I eat fish and seafood, but nothing that walks on land). Feel free to friend me and look at my diary. I don't know if it'll be helpful, but you can get an idea of the things I like to eat :)

    Best of luck!

I occasionally have shellfish but the rest of the time I eat vegetarian. Feel free to peek at my diary, and send me a message if you want clarification! Add me too if you want!

Hey, Walkinggirl! My wife and I are vegetarian and @ 90% vegan (we occasionally do some dairy when we go out to eat w/friends & family because they're all carnivores, so we're lucky when we can get them to a restaurant w/a vegetarian option!). Feel free to shoot me a friend add if you want; I'm always happy to talk to & help out a new veggie!

Just FYI, we're currently in the process of eliminating as much of the preprocessed foods from our diets as we can. Not that there's anything wrong with Morningstar Farms, Quorn, Tofurkey, et al., but my wife is becoming more sensitive to an abundance of sodium, so anything we can do to cut that out is great. But you can get ideas from our diaries, and much of it uses stuff you can find in your grocer's freezer.

    Good luck!

Yeah, the money situation is holding me back, I can get veggies cheap, but when getting other things to make things is quite expensive.

I am also a pescatarian (eat fish or shellfish about once a week at the moment)... I don't think I could ever give up dairy products, I get a lot of my protein there. Been using greek yogurt in homemade tzatziki with pita, or with fruit and a little honey for breakfast, tons of protein in that! Trying to buy things like quinoa and lentils in bulk right now since it saves a bit of money, even trying to grow some herbs and veggies. Veggies seem soooo expensive right now where I am. Feel free to add me and view my diary too, and I could also benefit from more yummy vegetarian recipes! :)

My diet is mostly plant based but I do eat fish and eggs. Diary should be viewable so if it helps you to look at it, feel free. Good luck on your journey!
