Hi Helen - it depends on a couple factors including your height. If you input all your stats into Myfitnesspal it should give you a calorie estimate (is that where the 1800 came from)?

And are there any particular exercises you need advice or help with? Let us know. The LARGE majority of weight loss will come from your diet, but adding in exercise is great for overall health. Just be careful if you're "eating back" those exercise calories you burned. They may be overestimated, so you should only eat back about half.

    Good luck!

    Hi Helen,

Did you fill in the required information here at myfitnesspal? Put in your stats, activity level, and desired weekly weight loss and MFP will give you the number of calories you should consume daily.

Now for the exercise, do it for fitness. Do it for health. Do it to feel happy. Don't do it just for weight loss. You lose weight by eating less than you burn and using MFP is a great way to track it (and stick to it).

    Good luck.

I think 1800 is not too much. I can maintain at 146 on 1800. Keep at it! Enjoy the food.

When you keep your choices clean and healthy I think you'll find 1800 is a lot. I do not mean that is too much for you I think 1800 is a good place to start. Be in tune with your body. Follow your macro percentages and pick healthy choices and stay the course. Even making a goal to walk 30 minutes a day is a great start and will help. Another tip is to increase water intake. Chair get ups (just getting up and down and controlling the movemnt on the way down), wall push-ups are a great start for some muscle strength building.
    Hope that helps! Good luck!

i agree with the others that you are probably eating enough. As for exercising, i know working out with so much extra weight can be really tough. if possible try to find things that will be low/no impact on your joints. working out in the pool is great if you access to one
