I'm thinking about becoming a vegitarian(I don't even know if I'm spelling it right lol) but I'm wondering about getting enough protein. Most vegitarians I've met are tiny and skinny and I don't think they would have a problem with getting enough protein but I need at least 200 g a day. Any ideas on how to get that eating just veggies? Do vegitarians eat fish?? And what's the difference between a Vegan ans a Vegitarian? Ugh! So many questions!! Should I take a summer class? hee hee!

There are different types of vegetarians out there. I started my vegetarian lifestyle about 2 months ago. I eliminated all meat except for fish. Fish is high in protein so I get a lot of my protein from that. I also drink a protein shake every day. 200 grams of protein is a lot of protein to get in a day. It'll be tough to reach that goal but it's not impossible. Good luck to you!

Why don't you track your food a bit and see if you are getting enough in the first place. Notice what has protein, and what non-meat protein things do to your diary, too. And eat plenty of vegetables. I'm sure vegetarian can be done right, but some I know are terrible eaters needing supplements. It can be done!

hello there! ive been vegetarian for almost a year and a half! i get protien from eggs and fish ( and im ok with eating those, i dont think im not a veg head because of those!) anyway... even some veggies have protien like peas! vegans dont eat cheese or yogurt (anything from an animal source!) good luck in whatever you choose!

dont worry about it..you arent going to die or be get any less nutrients from not getting 200 g as compared to 60..which technically is what we are only supposed to get.

most meat eaters get too much protein anyways..and with that comes high cholesterol, heart disease, liver, gall bladder, pancreas problems. look it up.

just remember..you can still eat unhealthy on a non meat diet. watch the carbs and eat more fruits and veggies, beans etc and lay off the pastas and potatos.

i get plenty of protein daily..i weight lift and am trying to build muscle. so i try to intake about 90-100 grams a day. i get this through nuts, beans, whole grains (quinoa, soy) and greek yogurt, cottage cheese and soy milk, and egg whites.

I'm not a vegetarian, I'm a pescetarian (I eat fish). Vegetarians are not always healthy and thin. Take me for example. It's really easy to eat a diet of pasta and bread. Plus at a lot of restaurants the only vegetarian option is fries. Even pizza without meat toppings is vegetarian. Point is, there are plenty of unhealthy very fattening vegetarian food.

The difference between vegetarians and vegans is vegetarians eat diary products and vegans do not eat any animal products including dairy and honey.

I recommend doing some research before trying it.

Cheese and eggs are good sources of protein as is tofu and seitan (if you don't hate it like I do).

It's been 20 years since I ate red meat, and about 12 years since I ate fowl. I don't ever miss it, but that's because I never really liked it to begin with.

Peanuts are a good source of protein, also some beans are as well. Off the top of my head I cannot tell you which ones, but I think black beans?
  • Im a vegetarian and I get lots of protein:) Greek yogurt, nuts, eggs, beans, quinoa, cheese, soy milk, chia seeds are great for omega 3 and protein:)
