Stretch Marks

So, I have been on my weight loss journey for about a month now. I am seeing stretch marks and I really don't like it. What are some methods that you all have used to reduce the appearance of stretch marks?

Depends on how thick they are but generally, time and patience. I have some on my hips from pregnancy and they've faded to the point that only I notice, and that's if I really look. No creams truly work the way they claim for stretch marks, because they are essentially scars.6

Just time really. I've had them, lots of them in a lot of places since my teens because I hit puberty as soon as I quit competitive gymnastics so had an epic growth spurt. A few more with weight gain as an adult. And now that I'm losing they are all becoming a lot less noticeable (all of mine have faded completely by this point though, which makes a difference, fresh ones will always be more noticeable.)0

As others have said, time.2

They don't go away. They fade over time from a red/purple when they are new to s silvery white but they are still there.
Nearly everyone has them. Its okay. mine and there are plenty are right in my profile pic. no photoshop all tiger stripes all day.0 -

Laser treatment is an option. Eat foods high in antioxidants.
Self-tanner lotions can help cover up.1 -
Time and being in a healthy weight range. They are there for life though. I just care a lot less about them because I look okay in general.0

As everyone else said, you will never be able to get rid of them. I've tried so many expensive creams over the years and none of them helped at all!
One thing I've tried and I can not explain how it works.... But i make up a jar of coconut oil and brown sugar and use that to exfoliate my belly everyday, either I'm hallucinating or my stretch marks are much harder to see since I've been doing this everyday in the shower. Bare in mind I got my stretch marks from pregnancy 21 years ago so they were already faded, but since i've been using the above method religiously they aren't as noticeable.1 -

Coconut oil (organic extra virgin) is great! and definitely with the brown sugar0 -
I've had one fraction laser session done on my stretch marks and I noticed a small difference. The doctor said I would probably need 4-6 sessions. It gets a little bit expensive.0

I've always been prone to these, I already had them as a teenager due to quite minor weight gain, and now, after a pregnancy several years ago, I have a huge number.
As others have said, the colour fades, but the actual scar is permanent. A huge number of people have them, and not always due to pregnancy or weight gain - I know a man who has them on his back due to a growth spurt in adolescence. They are just part of life, and the fact we are surrounded by images of naked people - especially women - who have neither stretch marks, cellulite nor spots is just another example of the camera lying in the service of marketing.
Learn to love your scars, they are part of your story.0 -
They were on my arms and I hated it! I felt like I could never wear short sleeve again! But I found a product called defining gel by itworks. I don't sell their products (I'm not a consultant). I used it twice a day for 6 months straight. Went through two bottles to get these results

Is this really the same arm in both pictures? Not trying to be rude, but the arm in the after picture looks much larger and a different shape? Maybe it's just me...They were on my arms and I hated it! I felt like I could never wear short sleeve again! But I found a product called defining gel by itworks. It's probably the angle of my camera. See it's much closer. On my left arm you can see my burn mark that I got when I was 18.

My husband took the before pictures and I took the after pictures.

Microneedling. $15 on Amazon and also works for acne scars and wrinkles. Not as painful as it looks and similar results to dermabrasion.2

Bio-Oil really helps!
My daughter in law religiously used bio oil twice a day, everyday during her whole pregnancy, and she is covered in dark purple stretch marks. I feel so guilty, because i was the one who said "use bio oil and you wont get any stretch marks", it certainly didn't work for her0 -
Another vote for time and patience. I can barely see my stretch marks anymore and some of them are less than a year old. I used to use fake tan to blend them a little better. I don't know if it helps the healing process or not, but I'm much happier with my skin when I slather up with lotion daily after my shower.0
