How fast do you lift? Do you do your reps at a moderate controlled speed or do you go faster. Tonight I tried going faster which I felt I had a little more pump and momentum to get through.

Moderate controlled. I try to focus on feeling the muscle work rather than just moving the weight.

I do both explosive and controlled.

ETA: explosive lifting allows you to lift more weight and it transfers well to sports.

Squeeze on the positive, control the negative.

When I'm powerlifting, we're all about speed AND control - the trainers are big on making sure our form is good, but also encourage momentum. It's a bit of a mind trip for me as when I go into the barre studio to teach or take a class, I'm telling students to use their own resistance. Such good cross training!

Whatever tempo is in my programming. Typically controlled explosiveness, at least on the big three.

i do both. One workout is max effort, heavy. The next workout is speed/dynamic for explosive strength with lower weight.
