OK so tomorrow is my birthday (hey its today if you are eastern time zone) LOL!! I really want birthday cake! I have not had real sugar in about a week now and afraid of tasting it to go back! I have been off AS too ( Artificial Sweetners) do you just log it and move on or do you find an alternative to birthday cake. I am not bringing it into my house but having a slice or cupcake OUT and will not allow it in my house. LOL

Thoughts?

I log it and move on. But I also eat real sugar every day. Always in my coffee and usually I have room for some type of treat every day. I only restrict calories so if it fits my goal I can have it. Happy birthday. Enjoy some cake. One piece of birthday cake is not going to derail you.

If you want it have it. Look at it as a treat for a special day, enjoy it, log it, move on.

Personally I wouldn't say "I'm not allowing it in my house"... too many rules and restrictions don't work for me, whereas moderation does. There are always going to be birthdays and special occasions and it's worth putting some thought into how you are going to handle them in the future.
We are all different - so you have to find the approach that works for you.

Whichever way you go - happy birthday!

Have the cake. Log it. Enjoy it. Then back to the usual the next day.

As an emotional over-eater, it would not feel like a birthday to me without cake. Is it the same for you? If so, a substitute won't do! But maybe you're not sentimental like me.... in which case, a substitute could feel as special a treat.

Having a little bit of the real stuff is way better than being unsatisfied with a meh substitute. I keep room for a little bit of sweets almost every day. That said, I did cut it out altogether for a couple weeks (about a year ago) to reset because I was going nuts with it and not really enjoying it or tasting it.

Eat the cake. It's a special occasion. Have a little slice and load up on healthy stuff to fill you up. Keep it small though, I know for me if I eat that much sugar I just want more and more.

My buddy's wife made me a cake a couple of weeks ago for my bday, she's into fitness/nutrition and does cakes as a side business, she made it as "healthy" as a cake as a cake can possibly be she said. I didn't ask what all went into it (didn't care), it tasted pretty good but you could tell it was missing some things that make a cake a cake. Needless to say..I ate the whole cake by myself over 3 days and I was none the worse for it.

Having a cupcake is the best plan IMO. A birthday cake in the house is just way too dangerous, lol.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY....it was my husband's Bday yst and I had a very small piece and counted it. We even went to a restaurant and I had a chicken sandwich and salad and still lost 1/4 Lb this morning from yst weigh in. I say enjoy a small piece. Maybe go to a bakery or restaurant and have a piece and share it with a friend?
