DANGER! DANGER!

I'm bored.

When I'm bored, I feel "hungry" :explode:

This has happened the past two evenings, after dinner. Before bed.

Yesterday, I made decent choices...my stomach did actually growl after I attempted to distract myself for a good bit of the evening...so I ate some veggies. No harm, no foul.

Here's hoping I can do the same tonight....tonight though, I am definitely not physically hungry (at this moment) I had plenty to eat at dinner, and have had lots of water. I feel full, physically.

I guess it's good I know the difference.

What is your danger zone? How do you deal with it?

Stress!! I want to chew on stuff then! I now get out the wii and run 10 minutes or come vent here with a flavored water!

Try eating almonds with no salt. 100 cal package or about 23 from the big bag very fullfilling. Or some other kinds of nuts a small handfull with a tall glass of water or Brisk no calorie lemon tea.

This is definitely my "danger zone"....I say this as I'm "snacking' on a grilled chicken breast I just cooked up for myself out of boredom.....I personally haven't figured out how to stop it yet, but I have started making better choices....Like tonight I cooked a chicken breast fillet and am eating it with buffalo sauce instead of finding chips or pretzels or whatever else I may have in the cabinet......

I am definitely the same way. I always get so bored right before bed and I want to eat anything, hoping that it will cure my boredom.

When I get like that I sip on water and try to busy myself with a god book or a game or 2 (or 10) of solitaire. Take it one moment at a time and conscienciously stay away from the kitchen

I know what you mean... I'm mad as hell right now and I just feel like emptying the fridge...

Boredom, frustration, sadness... seems like every emotion gives me a good reason to stray...

Breath in, breath out, find distractions... but I can't say that it's a foul proof method...

Sometimes I really feel like I would need a divine intervention to keep me away from the fatty food!

Haha I love it! I usually do things like that too!!

I have a thing about turning to cheese I love it even if it's just a little nibble, not good especially late at night! x

I have much the same problem! Another one of mine is that I am definitely an emotional eater. Something bad happens, I eat. Something sad happens, I eat!! It gets ridiculous! Especially when you know you aren't REALLY hungry. So...when times come up such as these, I grab a bottle of water and usually I will use a packet of some sort of Crystal Light. I don't use these often in my water but when I do, it helps curb any kind of sweet craving I may be having. Water is definitely my answer though! It keeps you filled up and even when you have those wayward feelings or cravings like you're hungry, just grab some water and some type of flavoring (or fruits and veggies) they are always good too!

OMG!! This has been me the past two nights too! :(
I ended up giving in, not too terribly, but enough that I was bummed. However, even though I still brushed my teeth before bed, I still woke up with a yucky taste in my mouth & a yucky feeling in my tummy! :( So, this morning I told myself to just remember that, which is what I've been doing all day. Today I left a little room for a small, healthy desert after dinner, which I'm just about to eat. So I think that helped too. Also, if I keep busy & don't stay up too late (cuz then I'll get hungry again), I seem to do well. So, busy, busy! ;)
Good luck! You can do it!

Before you eat anything grab a huge glass of water and drink that before thinking about anything to eat!

Boredom and PMS. The latter is infinitely more dangerous. Extra exercise and not keeping any garbage to eat in the house are the best ways to ward off a meltdown for me.

I have been doing much better lately but it is a lot harder the later I stay up. One thing I do is I have some bleach trays from the dentist that I put in at night when I'm watching TV. I can't eat while they are in and I leave them in for about an hour so that keeps me from eating.

If I don't do that I definitely make sure to brush my teeth and rinse with mouthwash since I know any food will taste nasty for quite a while after.

Other than that - I have my big bottle of water that I constantly sip on to help. Overall, I think it's helped me by cutting out snacking at all times of the day so I don't feel like I have that habit to feed. I have three meals and three snacks each day and typically plan them out the night before so I am never eating without thinking about it.

Mornings are the worst for me. My daughter gets up at 4:30 and then I have to have two breakfasts to get me through the morning!

When I get cravings during the day I try to do some exercise instead, 20 sit ups to take my mind off it. Only trouble is they don't take long and I'm still hungry afterwards and I try to justify it by telling myself that I've just done sit ups so something small won't do any harm because I've earned it. Your mind can always think of a reason to convince you to eat. Got to change my thinking habits!

Oh boy, I sure do wish I didn't relate to this... but I do. I am a MAJOR night time snacker. I have a hard time sleeping, so I stay up too late. If I stay up too late, I get hungry (with a tummy growl) or head hunger. They are both pretty strong pulls for me. I've been trying to snack only on healthy stuff BUT the problem is that I end up eating alllllll of it. If it's a 1/2 eaten bag of dried cranberries, I often end up slowly eat the rest of it.
I can't wait until the pantry isn't in my bedroom!....yes, I have the only storage place available to my kids and I in my bedroom (aka... the dining room that was converted into a bedroom for me)
*trying to focus on how very grateful I am that we have a place to stay while I'm in school*

When I get home from work, I don't know why but I want to snack, I normally just make sure it is a healthy one. I used to workout when i got home and then just drink my protein smoothie so i knew i needed the nutrients when i finally ate.

wow, good to know I'm not alone.

I guess it's good that I can (start) to tell the difference between boredom and hunger....now it's just a matter of choosing well when I'm feeling like this.

Ironically, this particular go round with the weight loss started because I was so stressed I could not eat. Go figure-and for me, an emotional eater, that was a huge thing. In fact, the exercise started because I was feeling so lousy I need to burn off some nervous/anxious energy and anger. ha ha. glad I seem to have crossed the line on that-over the hump as they say. Now it just feels good to eat right and work out, that's what I have to remember/focus on.

    Thanks everyone!!

Water does help a lot. When I first started this, I never felt full. Just the other day, I was craving sweets. Wow!! I think the way I cope with it is to eat a small salad with lots of water. Water water water. Hehe. Doesn't sound appetizing but helps.

My last couple nights have been a disaster with night time snacking. :grumble:

The only way I can prevent this is by planning my menu, including planned snacks for the evening. Then I know what I will be eating, and don't get distracted by the "what else can I eat" thoughts lol
