Calories not logged for Strength exercise

Can anyone answer this? When I log myself on the app doing strength exercise i.e weights/pushups/crunches etc there are no calories being recorded as burned. If I do a cardiovascular exercise like jogging it logs it fine. I don't understand why strength exercise isn't logged. Does it not burn any calories? I've stopped logging it because what's the point?

After I've finished weights/crunches etc I feel like I'm owed something for all my effort :)

Resistance training does burn some calories, but not many. The assumption built into MFP is that you're not doing resistance training to burn calories (but rather to build strength/gain muscle). The key is to know that all calorie burns are just estimates. Try what MFP gives you (zero) for while and if you're not recovering or your losing too fast or you feel like you're starving, tweak the formula.

The benefits of strength training are not the cals it burns but rather muscle retention, growth and strength gains. If you want an estimate of cals burned, enter "strength training" in the cardio section.

You can log calisthenics under cardio and get sort of a number.

I just think of it as a buffer. I did something to burn some calories but because I don't get "extra" calories then I can't eat them back. o:)

Search for strength training under cardio and log that. Keep in mind that the calories burned it gives you may be overestimated.
