Has anyone noticed?

For those of you that have lost 20 or more, have you noticed that people that you haven't seen in awhile don't even say anything about your weight loss to you? Or worse, at gatherings, try to push desserts and other high cal./fat foods on you to eat or take home? To me, 20lbs. is significant for a lot of us-enough that you can visibly see the difference. I'm not upset over the lack of comments or the other stuff-I lost by doing this for myself; however, I am just curious if anyone has experienced these behaviors??

Although I have only lost 10 (latley) I have lost over 20 in the past few years. Some times people dont comment because they are not sure why you are losing. I know that sounds crazy but my husband lost a bunch of weight from being sick (I mean a bunch like 45 lbs) and no one would comment - they would just drag me aside and ask what was wrong with him. They were not being mean - just concerned. So maybe that playes some part. Pushing desserts at you - well thats just wrong.........0

Ive lost 30 lbs, every one notices. Due to the nature of my business I have customers that go reasonable periods w/o seeing me, but guess what, my own mother doesnt have a word to say....Jealous I expect...0

I've lost 30 pounds, but very few people have noticed. I don't get out much and tended to "hide" when I was heavy, so maybe that's the reason.:huh:0

If they are like me they don't even pay enough attention to notice. Unless I compare pictures. However, it may be that they are just a lil jealous considering they are tryin to get you to eat fatty foods.0

I still get people trying to shove food in my face ... and ive been doing the 'healthy' thing for 3 years now. And the comments have turned from "you look great!" to "when are you going to stop losing?" "aren't you done yet?" "if you lose any more you'll look sick" ... stuff like that. It's annoying, but as long as you know why you're doing this, it doesn't matter what others say or don't say. 20lbs is great!0

I've had that happen where they noticed and still kept shoving stuff at me or telling me I was too thin (totally not true) and that I needed to stop what I was doing and eat eat eat. I think it was jealousy. I was working out five days a week and monitoring my foods while they chose to watch tv and eat out. Congrats to you tho. Twenty pounds is amazing. Good for you!0

I'm at 31.5 lbs lost and the only people who have made comments are my parents, my fiance, his grandmother and my friend's sister... nobody else has bothered/noticed. I don't understand it. My fiance sees me every single day (we live together) and makes a few comments a week. I see my parents about once or twice a month and my mother makes a comment everytime. My fiance's grandmother saw me at Christmas and then again at Easter and she could not stop talking about how much weight I lost since Christmas (at that point, about 20lbs). Then at about 11lbs -13lbs lost, I went to my friends house and her sister made a comment TWICE that I looked like I lost a lot.
I notice though, which makes all the difference. However, I do wish my close friends would notice or at least say something. My best friend, who lost a lot of weight with weight watchers hasn't even noticed. I only see her about once every month or two months so I am surprised she didn't notice when she saw me a couple weeks ago. I made a comment that my ring was loose and she said, "oh, did you lose weight?" and I said yup and she said, "oh, good" ....
Have you seriously not noticed that I've lost 30+ lbs since January? :grumble:
I think people just do not know HOW to approach it. My mother has always been 100% honest w me and will just outright say, looking good! or you look lik you lost a lot of weight. I also text her when I reach milestones - 20lbs, 25 lbs, 30lbs... Maybe my friends do not want to insult me or make me feel bad?0 -
Tell me about it.. I have lost about 60 pounds and some people "haven't" noticed. I mean my husband tells me everyday I am sexy, but other people don't even say anything. Like at family gatherings. I can feel them looking but noone says anything or they whisper to each other. I get you because it can get a bit aggrevating for them to do that.
For example, my brother always says, "You know such and such lost weight." And the people he is referring to have only lost about 10-15 pounds.. I feel like screaming at him "REALLY, cause I've lost 60!!'
So yes very annoying.. It does make me doubt myself as to whether I still look the same as before..
Sorry I had a little venting moment, but I could totally relate!!0 -

haha! I would scream that at my brother (if I had one:)! Maybe that is his way of trying to open up the conversation?? That is great you have lost that much!!
Thanks for your posts-glad to know that I am not the only one. I just know that it feels so good to be noticed!0
