Not what I expected.

Anyone else bought a product just assuming it will be healthier or lower calories, only to check once you get home and find it is actually more?
This happened to me today when I used coconut evaporated milk instead of normal coconut milk.
Made me wonder if I am the only one?

I'm not that into coconut milk, but isn't "evaporated" just "condensed"? Maybe you are supposed to use less of this product than the usual product?3

I used to think that way with V8 juice and drank it all the time, since it says something like "all your daily fruits and veggies needed!" Turns out I looked at the nutrition facts once I started to lose weight that it has a crap-load of sugar in it.1

when I make homemade 'evaporated milk' using milk powder I use 1 part milk powder to 4 parts water - so yes, it is much more concentrated than the non-evaporated version.
Hence the natural sugar levels would be more concentrated etc.0 -
I once grabbed a flavored carbonated water, assuming it was 0 calories and looked at the label on a lark, after I drank it, and was 400 calories....2

I get light coconut milk when using it, it's about half calories per 100ml on the usual version. Although a bit more watery, but not so you'd notice.0

Whilst those who learned long ago the high sugar levels of fruit juices, do keep in mind that advertising and marketing in this day and age does well to dupe people into thinking that their drinks are super healthy. Withy so much misinformation around, it's not until some people start using MFP that they really look at the labels on these drinks.
Everyone starts this learning journey somewhere. So give them some slack.5 -
I've learnt to check labels before I buy anything now and not to believe hype or trends, but check for myself first.2

Wasn't buying something "healthier" just something for supper. I checked the calories and protein content. Made two, they were chicken pot pies from Costco. Later realized that a "serving" was half a pie. And i don't mean these with 9 inch pies, probably about 4 inches, and something a normal person would think one = one serving.0

yes...I got a steak and ale pie at a local eatery.
Ate it and looked to log it....700 calories based on weight...havent' had it since.0 -
This is why I read labels at the store before I buy things like that.0
