I felt the same way discovering eggplant and zucchini. The squash family rocks.

I've always been large on vegetables, but before I started dieting I never had oatmeal. The first time I tried it I became addicted. What a versatile filling and delicious grain!

I recently had an unusual 'food combo' discovery. Watermelon sprinkled with feta cheese. Sounds so weird, but it's so good. The recipe I found actually has a basalmic reduction drizzled on it, which also tastes amazing with it, but after the first time making it I've just been too lazy to do that part again. Just dicing the watermelon and sprinkling the cheese is so much quicker. lol

    FRUITS and VEGETABLES.
So when I started this whole thing someone gave me this recipe. I make it at least twice a week during the summer. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/trisha-yearwood/watermelon-salsa-recipe.html

Cherry tomatoes are one of my favourite snacks...they feel like a treat but are full of goodness and are very low in cals for something so yummy.

Sugar pod peas are amazing right off of the vine. Also good in stir-fry, obviously. Right now I have a ton of them in the garden...should get out some hummus or homemade yogurt ranch and chow down.

I have discovered that food, real food, just taste MORE, after I stopped eating too much "junk" (which actually just taste "more-ish") and started to aim for variety. I feel crazy sometimes. Milk can taste like ice cream, the first bite of steak has strong hints of caramel, black rye bread tastes like cake, vegetables don't taste bitter anymore, I can taste the ocean when I eat fsih and seafood, and I'm sure some of those melons and plums are "laced".

I agree. I have noticed that things I like and what more-ish is also changes over time. I can still go gaga over a great dark chocolate mousse now and again, as long is it is not too sweet. I have gone off the ones with milk chocolate Just too sickly sweet for me.
As for any vegetable; they are now totally morish.

On a side note I used to assemble a meal around the chosen meat/protein source. These days I assemble it around my chosen vegetable.
