Does anyone know of any good exercise programs for beginners to help lose weight along with doing the food portions and calorie count... I'm just having such a hard time losing weight and keeping it off

The only exercise I'm doing is walking. I started out doing 1/2 mile and I'm up to 3 now in less than 30 days. I've lost 12 lbs so far.

Besides my lifting, which is done for body comp and strength, I just walk. I'm more concerned with keeping an activity level I can adhere to for life. I will not do cardio 3x per week forever, so I'm not going to use it to help me lose weight either.

What do you like? Are you part of a gym?

MyFitnessPal is good for learning portions and calorie counts. Walking is an ideal beginner exercise. Work up to that 10,000 steps per day.

If you're looking for something more regimented, I've heard the 21 Day Fix by Beachbody is really good. It includes workout Dvd's and portion control containers along with their meal plan. I haven't tried it myself, but a few people I know had a lot of success with it.

Hey Cindy. As a fellow 40-something female, our metabolic rate isn't what we remember. Try walking every day even at lunch and break times. take a few flights of stairs at work too if you can. I'm collecting YouTube videos do do at home. Try the Fitnessblender low impact cardio for beginners and 10 min abs workout from PsycheTruth. Those are my current go tos

Any exercise that you like! Finding something you enjoy will help you stick with it. I also suggest strength training so that you can maintain more lean mass while losing fat.
