back on the bandwagon after a few years of ups and downs. sw: 173, goal weight: 135. i'm already down 5 lbs, but i am on vacation for the next year. i am really excited about it, and i'm going to spend it with my boyfriend in europe - we'll work some and travel some.
as exciting as it is, i am worried about staying on track. these past 5 days, i've consistently gone over calories without doing much exercise. i know we'll do a lot of walking in europe, and i'll spend some time at home where i'm surrounded by healthy foods and family members who go to the gym, but i'll only be in that environment for a few weeks. suggestion would be most welcome! also, do you log food when you're on vacation? thoughts on that are encouraged.
a little bit about me: i'm 24, and i've worked as a teacher for the past three years. i am ready to try something new, but i'm not quite sure what it is! i love tv shows such as arrested development, bob's burgers, the IT crowd (awesome british show about nerds!), coupling uk, etc...in short, i enjoy my tv! i also love going to the gym, and i enjoy exercising. MFP has already been a great tool, and hopefully, i'll start getting back to my calorie goal.
i know how much better it is to lose weight with someone, so will you be my someone?

Hi there! I'm sure you won't have to worry about getting enough exercise when in Europe. I also think your vacation will be more enjoyable if you are tracking your food and return to the States having lost weight while abroad. Btw, I LOVE Arrested Development and The IT crowd!!! Both are on Netflix Streaming and they are hilarious!!!! I haven't seen the others, but I will definitely check them out since you seem to like the same shows I do. Keep on tracking! Yay!!!0

Hey there!
I am currently on vacation and I didn't log on for the first couple days but wrote what I ate in a notebook. Surprisingly, it worked! Today, I have been logging what I eat as soon as I can, and I went over by almost 700 calories! yikeeees
It's also my last day of vacation today so maybe I just splurged haha. I would definitely do as much exercise as you can because it really helps!!! Especially if you go out to eat a lot because you won't always know every thing that is in the food. I brought as many snacks as I could and ate some of the stuff I usually eat to try to keep me on track.
Best of luck (:

Hi guys,
Thanks for the encouragement! I went over my calorie limit by 400 calories today - blurgh! But I'm back home, and I'm excited to hit the gym tomorrow.
I've decided not to weigh myself for now because I actually tend to eat more if I see a significant weight gain. So I think I'll just hold off on that until I feel better.about getting on the scale of doom!0 -
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the advice and encouragement. It's always tough for me to get the ball rolling, especially when I've stalled so soon to the beginning. I like the idea of coming back from Europe more svelte!
Also, you should definitely check out Coupling UK (also on Netflix) - I think you would enjoy it0 -
