How do I keep below my sugar allowance?

Hi everyone I am struggling at the moment to keep below my sugar allowance whilst having the right amount of calories. For example today I had 2 coffees with 1 sugar, a roast chicken breast with salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, green pepper), some blueberries and raspberries with no fat Greek yoghurt and some cheese with the rest of the salad for my dinner but I am only at 700 calories and 5 grams away from having my whole sugar allowance. Any tips for upping the calories and keeping my sugar down? Thanks

Do you have a medical reason to track your sugar?0

No I don't, I've just read that sugar turns into stored fat?0

Nope. Excess calories turn into fat.1 -
Ok, so it is alright to have more sugar?0

It seems to be in everything!0

excess energy (calories) are stored as fat...sugar isn't directly stored as fat.
also, are you sure your entries are correct from the database...like how are you logging your salad and stuff...I find it odd that you would be that close to your sugar target just eating what you listed unless your entries are erroneous entries from the database (there are a lot of them)
excessive amounts of sugar isn't good for anyone, but I'd hardly call what you listed as being even close.
I don't eat much in the way of added sugars so I really don't worry about tracking sugar. If I was someone who had a problem with sweets and whatnot I'd think differently, but I'm not really into sweets and I seriously doubt my couple servings of fruit and my veg are an issue...I mean just logically and coming from a common sense perspective.0 -
I don't track sugar, it's never affected my weight loss.1

Ok thanks0

The sugar you want to track is added sugar, like what you put in your coffee or what is added to bake something, not the natural sugars found in your fruits and vegetables.0

Ok that makes sense so no more tracking fruit and veggies!0

You'll probably still want to log fruit and vegetables - they do have calories.2

vOv, my sugar intake is never over 5g/day, and rarely over 3g. It doesn't really matter though. Just how I roll.0

I switched from tracking sugar to tracking fiber. Much more useful info to me. If you eat any fruit you're probably over your sugar "limit"1

Nope. Excess calories turn into fat.
It's a bit of both! Excess calories from sugars and carbohydrates are stored as fat. There's a lot of factors in play and not all carbohydrates or sugars you eat will be stored as fat (little if you are in a deficit). This article explains it well:
