Didn't get a chance to run until later in the day today, so just stuck with the treadmill at the gym for 7 miles to avoid the heat. Broke up the run with 30 minutes of lifting in the middle, which helped avoid too much monotony.

    7/2 - 9 miles
    7/4 - 1 mile
    7/5 - 7 miles
    7/6 - 5 miles
    7/7 - 1 mile (lift warmup)
    7/8 - 3 miles
    7/9 - 5 miles
    7/10 - 11.5 miles
    7/12 - 1 mile (lift warmup)
    7/13 - 8 miles
    7/14 - 2 miles
    7/15 - 5 miles
    7/16 - 10 miles
    7/18 - 10 miles
    7/19 - 3.5 miles
    7/20 - 14.5 miles
    7/21 - 8.5 miles
    7/22 - 10 miles
    7/25 - 18 miles
    7/26 - 7 miles

    Total: 140 miles
    Goal: 180 miles
    Remaining: 40 miles

    2016 Race Schedule:
    Disney Marathon - Jan 6 - 3:29:09
    Gasparilla 15K - Feb 20 - 1:01:59
    Ironman 70.3 Florida - Apr 10 - 5:07:51
    Pittsburgh Marathon - May 1 - 3:08:25
    Ironman 70.3 Augusta - Sep 25
    Chicago Marathon - Oct 9
    Ironman Florida - Nov 5

@orphia - bicycle accident, so was moving a bit slower when I hit the pavements than on a motorbike. Just some small cuts, road rash, and a sore shin, but resting the extra day seemed to work out as my running stride is back to normal. Already hit my bike mileage goal for the month (other forum - 1,000km/621 miles this month), so mostly just using the bike for commuting, and running/swimming more during the rest of the week.

Still reading all the 150 messages, but going to post in case I get pulled away:

I've had company for a week and I'm headed out of town for a few days so I'm crazy busy. I'm enjoying keeping up with reading about y'all even if I can't respond.

Sunday was a rest day, yesterday I did 4 miles around the little lake, and today was a quick 2 miles, but I had to get back to say goodbye to my departing visitors. I'm hoping tomorrow I can get in a long(er) run if the heat doesn't kill me first.

    @shanaber wonderful dog pics!

I just wanted to add that I bought shoes today! But not for me, lol. My 11 year old daughter just started competitive cheer, and her practices start with a 2-mile conditioning run. She's been complaining about her sneakers (she has special shoes for cheer, but just regular shoes from Target for gym class, etc.) for awhile now. She's also been saying she wants to run with me...so I got her a pair of Mizuno Wave Riders. The same pair I've had my eyes on for myself for a few months...which will have to wait a bit now. But I'm so excited she's running! I hope good shoes will give her a little extra spring in her step. :)

@Stoshew71 I'm getting jealous of the Daily Doubles. I know I have no use for them, but every time I read you did a DD, I'm like "Gah! I want to run!" Awesome running!

@TattooedDolphinGirl78, @Somebody_Loved, @lporter229 - just want you to know that it is all your fault and I am going to blame you when my husband asks why I need 3 more sports bras :)
The sales were too good to pass up and I am going to try some new brands while the prices are so great!

@shanaber - Ha! When the Nordstrom sale started I said I was only going to buy clothes for work, date nights, etc. because I didn't need any more workout clothes. 4 sports bras, 2 tank tops, 1 t-shirt and a pair of leggings later...

So. Now there are TWO Marathons I'm considering. One is better because it's in May, and hence cooler weather, the other in in June, so hotter, and on my anniversary, but it's also closer to home and it's a race I WILL run at some point...... I need to stop looking at race listings.

HA! I wish. Whichever one I do, it will be my first full. Got plenty of time though, as registration doesn't open for another month or 2 for them.

    ........: 2.5 miles spectating @ XC race

Tagged along with my running buddy for the last of a 4 race summer XC series. I ran this race two weeks ago and vowed not to do it again, so I warmed up with them (it was ~90F, 50% humidity... ick!), spectated and cheered like a boss, and then did their cool down. I have a lot more fun at an XC race as a proud running friend rather than as an active participant. Plus, I got to eat a piece of pizza while running the cool down mile, and that upped my runner street cred ;)

Now to wake up in 7 hours and run a bunch more miles!

    7/26 – 6.05 warmup + speed work

July total to date – 172.76

Nominal Challenge Goal – 150 miles
Real Goals: Become comfortable running 5 days a week. Finish Shoreline in good shape, managing the expected heat and humidity better than last year. Build base toward Rochester Marathon.

Today's notes – 84º F (29º C) this evening, but humidity nowhere near as oppressive as it was yesterday. Hardly felt the humidity for the 2 mile warmup on roads and trails; then there was no breeze and lots of direct sunlight at the track. Didn't want to do a terribly long workout, because I like the 13 mile workout on the schedule for Thursday, I'm committed to pacing 19 miles Saturday, and I don't want to add too many weekly miles too soon. So I ended up doing the workout assigned for people pointing at a 5K: 400 at T, 2 x 400 at R (took 200 recovery), 2 x 1000 at T (tokk 200 recovery), an untimed standing around full recovery, then one set of Kenyan surge drills: 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes at I pace, with half the time recovery between. I think I ran the I pace a bit on the fast side; by the time I got done with the 1:30 easy recovery after the last 3 minutes fast, I was ready to quit running. I never seriously considered the optional second set of Kenyan surge drills.

This was just what I needed today. Not too many miles, felt great afterwards, and built my confidence that I could run some of the faster paces and not hurt.

    2016 races:
January 1, 2016 Resolution Run 7.5 mile (Mendon, NY) finished in 53:58
January 9, 2016 Winter Warrior Half Marathon (Gates, NY) finished in 1:30:59

@MobyCarp - yeah, the humidity was better today, much less oppressive. But it was much sweatier work than I expected based on the nice breeze and cooler temp.

Tonight's workout was short intervals. 60-90-30 seconds with 90 seconds between (which I walked). Repeated 5 times. Then 4 sprints. I surprised myself with the paces I was able to hit throughout. I also was trying out a new pair of shoes, which so far seem ok.

And tonight's 5.76 miles brings me to my July goal!!!! And this is now my highest mileage month so far.
