Macros are fat, protein, carbs. They provide energy. There's energy in the food we eat, and we expend and store energy continously. To lose weight, you need a calorie deficit, so that we over time expend more than we store, and sustain it. The right nutrition will make it easier to sustain the calorie deficit, because it can prevent the sense of hunger, that may be an issue when we eat less than we are used to. Getting enough protein and fat is important. 0.8 grams of each per pound of bodyweight at normal weight, is a good goal. The rest of your calories can be carbs. But set calories correctly first. Aim for a weight loss goal of no more than 1% of your bodyweight per week. MFP sets your calorie goal according to your chosen weight loss goal.0
