Hello! I'm new and a little scared

Hello everyone
I've always been blind about my weight problem... I never really cared but now I can't control myself and eat all day, specially chocolate, I just can't stop at one bite. My family keeps telling me that I'm gaining too much weight and that usually makes me very angry.
Now, looking at my habits and lack of exercise I'm getting scared, I don't feel healthy at all. I need to change urgently! But this is a -one day at a time- fight and I'm not that strong.
I like how this site works, I think it will help me
Thanks for the support

Don't be scared, this is a great site and has helped me to be the most successful I've ever been at losing weight and not getting bored with it in a month or two.
I started out by just logging what I was currently eating before I started cutting down portion sizes and changing some of my snacks for healthier options - you don't have to do everything at once, just being here and starting to log your food and exercise is a victory.0 -

You sound exactly like I did when I started this. I was tired of my mother and sister nagging me for having put on the weight, and I just turned a blind eye to it and dug in my heels.
But... the lightbulb went on, and I came to the realization that while they weren't going about it in the nicest way, they *were* right...
You can do it! Set a goal, make a plan, and you will get there.0 -
Everyone always fears the unknown. The thought of loosing weight, working out and eating "healthy" is intimidating to everyone especially those who are complete foriegner to the idea of "life style changes." But like my mother always said "if it was easy, everybody would do it." She is my biggest inspiration for trying to make a better me. She passed away suddenly about 3 months ago. She was the coolest person I know and the best mom in the universe. I love her and miss her dearly but I know that she is constantly watching over me and I need to be strong for my sister. Her memories, spirit and love for life is what gives me the drive to take it day by day to work out, eat better and hopefully slim a little in the process. Since I have taken more control over myself(putting my big girl panties on) I have been working out 6-7 days a week and counting calories on the week days....I cant quit cold turkey!! But I guess what Im getting at is no matter what the reason, find inspiration from someone, somthing, or within urself and take it moment by moment, day by day. Even if your not seeing the scale go down, you WILL feel better every day. When you hear the mini devil on your shoulder whispering sweet food porn into your ear telling you its just a little bit....its no biggy. SMACK IT DOWN AND JUST SAY NO!!!!. It will be hard in the biginning but you will get better. Oh yeah, another thing, give urself a little wiggle room. At least one day that you can have whatever you want. You will find that with time after eating well, you will want to put good things intor your body and you will look forwar to busting a sweat. Hope to see you progress!! Good luck and God speed!!!0

i know just how you feel because i was just the same, it is extremely scary when the road ahead seems so long. However you have made the big step of joining a support group, now just take it one day at a time and dont try to look to far into the future, keep logging on here because this is where you will find the support you need by people who know what your feeling and how hard it is. we CAN do it if we believe in ourselves, but take baby steps and try to take it a few pounds at a time instead of thinking of the end goal which may today seem a long way away.
you have come to the right place so keep logging in your surrounded by like minded people. good luck xx0 -
This site is a great help!! As far as the chocolate goes, I'm right there with you. It can be difficult, but having support here and being mindful of what you're doing it for really helps.

hello
being scared is good, as it means that you care about what you do to your body and are willing to take control and change. ive found mfp and the support on here fab to help me change my old habits! i love my chocolate too and its always been a part of my everyday! but like yourself i couldnt control how much i had, but i learnt soon enough that quality is better than quantity and was able to fit it into my daily calorie intake and that way it didnt feel like i was dieting! and its worked.good luck on your journey
feel free to add me0
